South Asian Bodies at British Borders in the 1970s: From the Ugandan Asian ‘Stateless Husbands’ to ‘Virginity Testing’

open access: yesGender &History, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article looks at two critical moments in British immigration – the case of the ‘stateless’ Ugandan Asian husbands, whose wives successfully argued for their entry in Britain in 1973 and the ‘virginity test’ performed on Mrs K at Heathrow Airport in 1979.

Patient‐reported outcomes, postoperative pain and pain relief after day‐case surgery (POPPY): short‐term peri‐operative analgesic use

open access: yesAnaesthesia, EarlyView.
Summary Introduction An increasing proportion of complex surgical procedures are being performed in the UK as day‐cases, with variable and limited follow up. Discharge prescriptions must provide adequate analgesia, while considering the safety of the patient and public, following best practice guidance and good opioid stewardship.

From Everyman to Hamlet: A Distant Reading

open access: yesRenaissance Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract The sixteenth century sees English drama move from Everyman to Hamlet: from religious to secular subject matter and from personified abstractions to characters bearing proper names. Most modern scholarship has explained this transformation in terms originating in the work of Jacob Burckhardt: concern with religion and a taste for ...

Back to the Electrofuture: Named Reactions Powered by Electroorganic Syntheses

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
Bridging classical named reactions with modern electroorganic chemistry, this review presents how electrochemical strategies can revive and reinterpret historically significant transformations, highlighting their emerging potential as sustainable alternatives in contemporary organic synthesis.

Measurement of the charge asymmetry in highly boosted top-quark pair production in s=8 TeV pp collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2016
In the pp→tt¯ process the angular distributions of top and anti-top quarks are expected to present a subtle difference, which could be enhanced by processes not included in the Standard Model. This Letter presents a measurement of the charge asymmetry in

Extracellular NAD+ response to post-hepatectomy liver failure: bridging preclinical and clinical findings

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Liver fibrosis progressing to cirrhosis is a major risk factor for liver cancer, impacting surgical treatment and survival. Our study focuses on the role of extracellular nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (eNAD+) in liver fibrosis, analyzing liver ...

Search for resonances in the mass distribution of jet pairs with one or two jets identified as b-jets in proton–proton collisions at s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2016
Searches for high-mass resonances in the dijet invariant mass spectrum with one or two jets identified as b-jets are performed using an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb−1 of proton–proton collisions with a centre-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV recorded by the
