A review of Mpox: Biological characteristics, epidemiology, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
The monkeypox virus (MPXV) has spread to many countries and caused thousands of infections all over the world. This review comprehensively introduces the biology, epidemiological characteristics of MPXV, and clinical manifestations of Mpox. The approaches for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention are also introduced, aiming to improve the general ...

Simultaneous Qualitative And Quantitative Identification Of Multiple Targets By Polymerase Chain Reaction On Microarray [PDF]

open access: yesChapter 12 at "Oligonucleotide Array Sequence Analysis", Nova Publishers, ISBN: 978-1-60456-542-3, 2008
An approach for multiplex qualitative and quantitative microarray-based PCR analysis has been proposed. The characteristics of PCR executed on a gel-based oligonucleotide microarray with immobilized forward primers and a single common reverse primer in solution were investigated for several DNA targets.

Silver Nanoparticle‐Mediated Antiviral Efficacy against Enveloped Viruses: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, EarlyView.
Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) exhibit broad‐spectrum antiviral activity by targeting key viral structures and processes. They disrupt viral envelopes, compromising integrity, and bind to nucleocapsids, impairing viral replication. AgNPs also inhibit glycoprotein interactions, preventing viral attachment and entry into host cells.

Unveiling Zeus [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Malware family classification is an age old problem that many Anti-Virus (AV) companies have tackled. There are two common techniques used for classification, signature based and behavior based. Signature based classification uses a common sequence of bytes that appears in the binary code to identify and detect a family of malware.

Immunohistochemistry for hepatitis E virus capsid protein cross‐reacts with cytomegalovirus‐infected cells: a potential diagnostic pitfall

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 82, Issue 2, Page 354-358, January 2023., 2023
Immunohistochemistry for hepatitis E virus (HEV) ORF2 (capsid) protein is a powerful tool for tissue‐based diagnosis of hepatitis E, particularly useful in evaluating abnormal liver values in immunocompromised patients. We report here a previously unobserved reactivity of the HEV ORF2 antibody to human cytomegalovirus (CMV) proteins and contrast the ...

The Dynamics of HCF-1 Modulation of Herpes Simplex Virus Chromatin during Initiation of Infection

open access: yesViruses, 2013
Successful infection of herpes simplex virus is dependent upon chromatin modulation by the cellular coactivator host cell factor-1 (HCF-1). This review focuses on the multiple chromatin modulation components associated with HCF-1 and the chromatin ...

Rare case of subacute herpetic myocarditis

open access: yesIDCases, 2023
Viruses represent the main cause, especially in developed countries. Coxsackie and echoviruses are the most common cardiotropic viruses causing myocarditis. Herpes simplex virus-induced myocarditis is uncommon, and few cases of Herpes simplex virus (HSV)

Concurrent Reactivation of Herpes Simplex and Varicella Zoster Viruses Confirmed by the Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification Assay

open access: yesCase Reports in Dermatology, 2014
Concurrent reactivation of herpes simplex and varicella zoster viruses is rare. Here, we describe the case of an elderly patient with herpes labialis and herpes zoster manifesting as a right-side facial eruption with vesicles and crusting.
