Os herpesvírus bovino tipos 1 e 5 (BoHV-1; BoHV-5) são genética e antigenicamente muito semelhantes e por isso são indistinguíveis pela maioria dos testes diagnósticos.

Detection of a novel gammaherpesvirus (genus Rhadinovirus) in wild muntjac deer in Northern Ireland [PDF]
This study represents the initial part of an investigation into the potential for non-native, wild, free-living muntjac deer (Muntiacus reevesi) to carry viruses that could be a threat to livestock.

Development of a Shuttle Polymerase Chain Reaction for the Detection of Bovine Herpesvirus 2.
Three different polymerase chain reaction (PCR) protocols were evaluated for their ability to detect bovine herpesvirus 2 (BoHV-2): single-step PCR with 3 reaction stages (denaturation, annealing and extension), 2 reaction stages (denaturation and annealing/extension; shuttle PCR), and semi-nested PCR with 3 reaction stages.

RNAi Regulator C3PO Promotes Arbovirus Infection in Insect Vectors
RNA interference (RNAi) is vital for eukaryotes to defend against virus infection. The C3PO complex takes part in RNAi but its role in regulating viral infection remains unclear. This work finds that insect C3PO facilitates arbovirus replication by degrading precursors of miRNAs, especially miR‐971‐3p.

Prevalence of BoHV-1 seropositive and BVD virus positive bulls on Irish dairy farms and associations between bull purchase and herd status [PDF]
peer-reviewedBackground BVD and IBR are contagious viral diseases highly prevalent in Irish cattle. Despite their significant reproductive and economic impact very little is known about the BVD and IBR status of stock bulls (a bull used ...

Novel virus-encoded microRNA molecules expressed by ovine herpesvirus 2-immortalized bovine T-cells
A number of herpesviruses have now been shown to encode microRNAs (miRNAs) that have roles in control of both viral and cellular gene expression. Ovine herpesvirus 2 (OvHV-2) is the causative agent of sheep-associated malignant catarrhal fever, a fatal lymphoproliferative disease of cattle. Using massively parallel sequencing and Northern hybridization

ABSTRACT This study investigated the phytochemical profile, cytotoxicity, and anti‐herpetic activity of the hydroethanolic extract from Scoparia dulcis L. aerial parts. Mass spectrometry revealed the presence of 15 compounds. The extract showed low cytotoxicity in Vero cells, maintaining over 80% viability at concentrations up to 250 µg/mL.

The role of phospholipase C signaling in bovine herpesvirus 1 infection
Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) infection enhanced the generation of inflammatory mediator reactive oxidative species (ROS) and stimulated MAPK signaling that are highly possibly related to virus induced inflammation.

Statistical properties of thermodynamically predicted RNA secondary structures in viral genomes
By performing a comprehensive study on 1832 segments of 1212 complete genomes of viruses, we show that in viral genomes the hairpin structures of thermodynamically predicted RNA secondary structures are more abundant than expected under a simple random ...
