Kaposi’s sarcoma associated herpesvirus (KSHV) is causative agent of Kaposi’s sarcoma, Multicentric Castleman Disease and Pleural effusion lymphoma. KSHV-encoded ORF17 encodes a protease which cleaves -Ala-Ala-, -Ala-Ser- or -Ala-Thr-bonds.

Acyclovir inhibits Cyprinid herpesvirus 3 multiplication in vitro
AbstractCyprinid herpesvirus 3 (CyHV‐3), also known as koi herpesvirus (KHV), is an aetiological agent of a virulent and lethal disease in common and koi carp. In this study, we examined in vitro the anti‐CyHV‐3 activity of acyclovir (ACV), nucleoside analogue commonly used against human herpesviruses, as well as acyclovir monophospate (ACV‐MP).

Using CSF Proteomics to Investigate Herpesvirus Infections of the Central Nervous System
Herpesviruses have complex mechanisms enabling infection of the human CNS and evasion of the immune system, allowing for indefinite latency in the host. Herpesvirus infections can cause severe complications of the central nervous system (CNS).

Genetic relatedness of equine herpesvirus types 1 and 3 [PDF]
The genetic relatedness of two types of equine herpesviruses (EHVs), 1 (EHV-1) and 3 (EHV-3), was determined by DNA-DNA reassociation kinetics. Denatured, labeled viral DNA probe was allowed to reassociate in the presence or absence of the second unlabeled viral DNA.
