Susceptibility of endothelial cells to bovine herpesvirus type 4 (BHV-4)

Journal of Virological Methods, 1997
The sensitivity of two different types of cells to bovine herpesvirus type 4 (BHV-4) was compared by median tissue culture infectious dose (TCID50) assays. The bovine arterial endothelial (BAE) cell culture derived from bovine carotid arteries was 100-1000 times more sensitive to two strains of BHV-4, Movar 33/63 and DN 599, than Madin Darby bovine ...

Molecular Typing of a BHV-4 (Bovine herpesvirus 4) Field Isolate

Veterinary Research Communications, 2000
A new BHV-4 (bovine herpesvirus 4) isolated from a case of bovine interdigital dermatitis was characterized by PCR and restriction enzyme analysis. To determine whether the new isolate (PR/1) belonged to BHV-4, DNA from infected cells was specifically amplified by PCR.

Potential of bovine herpesvirus 4 as a gene delivery vector

Journal of Virological Methods, 2002
A cloning system was developed for construction of BHV-4 recombinants and recombinant virus BHV-4EGFPDeltaTK containing an enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) gene was constructed. The host range of BHV-4EGFPDeltaTK was characterized in vitro.

The biology of bovine herpesvirus-4 infection of cattle.

DTW. Deutsche tierarztliche Wochenschrift, 1990
The biology of bovine herpesvirus-4 (BHV-4) infection of cattle is reviewed. The infection is distributed worldwide. Most of isolated viruses are non-pathogenic in cattle; some of them are able to produce a genital disease. Twenty-nine structural polypeptides were described; ten of them are glycosylated.

Comparative study of two strains of Bovid herpesvirus-4

Comparative Immunology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, 1988
Two strains of Bovid herpesvirus-4 (BHV-4), i.e. the prototype strain DN-599, obtained from a steer suffering of a respiratory disease, and the strain 85/BH 16TV, originated from a cow with vulvovaginitis, were compared in studies which included restriction endonuclease analysis, experimental infection and reciprocal cross protection tests.

Role of bovine herpesvirus 4 in bacterial bovine mastitis

Microbial Pathogenesis, 2004
In order to study the role played by bovine herpesvirus 4 (BoHV-4) in bovine mastitis, PCR experiments were performed on a Hungarian dairy herd of 2000 cows. Milk cells were tested with a nested PCR adjusted to detect the virus in the milk. Thirty to forty-one percentage of the udders of 101 cows with bacterial mastitis (Escherichia coli, Streptococcus

Assessment of bovine herpesvirus 4 based vector in chicken

Journal of Virological Methods, 2008
The biological characteristics of BoHV-4 make it a good candidate as a gene delivery vector for vaccination purposes. These characteristics include little or no pathogenicity, unlikely oncogenicity, the ability to accommodate large amounts of foreign genetic material, the ability to infect several cell types from different animal species, such as sheep,
