Pathogenesis of ruminant herpesvirus infections

Veterinary Microbiology, 1996
Ruminants are hosts for members of both Alpha- and Gamma-herpesvirinae. A wide range of disease syndromes is associated with infections by these agents. The associated diseases reflect the biological nature of the causative viruses. Clinically, the symptoms may be mild and localized or include severe generalized disease, leading eventually to death ...

Herpesvirus Infection of Seborrheic Keratoses

The American Journal of Dermatopathology, 2001

Herpesvirus infections in immunocompromised patients

1995
Among infections of cancer patients, the relative importance of viral infections has increased in the last decade. More aggressive and prolonged immunosuppression, together with improved supportive care, have led to an increased survival of cancer patients.

Systemic Antivirals in Herpesvirus Infections

Dermatologic Clinics, 1993
Over the last few years we have seen the advent of effective antiviral drug therapy, the major ramifications being in the area of herpes infections. Acyclovir has become an established part of clinical practice, and other compounds are being increasingly used in the immunocompromised host.

The management of ocular herpesvirus infections

Survey of Ophthalmology, 1976
The many treatment methods in current use for every known complaint only seem to aggravate the difficulty of treating ocular herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections, which are generally self-limited in the immunocompetent host. The cornea is already a somewhat immune-deficient tissue since its lack of blood vessels separates it partially from the host ...

Laboratory Diagnosis of Herpesvirus Infections

Clinics in Laboratory Medicine, 1987
The diagnosis of infection due to herpesviruses can be performed by several laboratory techniques, including virus culture, demonstration of virus-specific cellular antigens, detection of virus-induced serum antibodies, detection of viral nucleic acids (using radiolabeled probes), or visualization of histologic changes in infected tissue. Virus culture
