Model Fitting Under Patterned Heterogeneity of Variance
Forest Science, 1989Two approaches toward fitting regression models with multiplicative error heteroscedasticity recur in the forestry, ecology, and statistical literature. One includes the estimation of the heterogeneity in the fitting process.

Use of range in testing heterogeneity of variance
Biometrika, 1966Among the currently used tests for heterogeneity of variances are those of Bartlett (1937), based on Neyman & Pearson's (1931) likelihood ratio; and of Hartley (1950), based on the ratio of maximum to minimum in a set of k independent sample variances, each with the same number of degrees of freedom, which we call n 1.

Heterogeneity of variance in clinical data.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 2000Traditional parametric (t, F) and nonparametric (Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon U, Kruskal-Wallis H) statistics are sensitive to heterogeneity of variance (heteroscedasticity). Moreover, there are theoretical reasons to expect, and empirical results to document, the existence of heteroscedasticity in clinical data.
