Heterogeneous Photonic Integration on Silicon

2018 European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), 2016
We review recent advances in heterogeneous silicon photonic integration technology and components and describe progress in silicon photonic integrated circuits. Techniques for laser integration and the impact of active silicon photonic integrated circuits could have on interconnects, telecommunications and silicon electronics are reviewed. A variety of

Path to 3D heterogeneous integration

2015 International 3D Systems Integration Conference (3DIC), 2015
The DARPA Microsystems Technology Office is developing revolutionary materials, devices, and integration techniques for meeting the performance requirements for advanced microwave and RF systems. The DARPA Compound Semiconductor Materials on Silicon (COSMOS) program focused on the development of new methods to tightly integrate compound semiconductor ...

Integrated heterogeneous processing

COMPCON Spring '91 Digest of Papers, 2002
The supercomputing field is witnessing new processor technologies and architectural approaches that provide more cost-effective computing. The design of FPS Computing's System 500 supercomputer is discussed. It provides the ability to integrate in a modular manner the heterogeneous processing capabilities of scalar, vector, parallel/matrix, and ...

Integrating heterogeneous OO schemas

Proceedings 15th International Conference on Data Engineering (Cat. No.99CB36337), 1999
To eliminate semantic conflicts among the heterogeneous databases involved in a cooperation, a set of correspondence assertions for declaring their semantic relationships have to be constructed by DBAs or by users. Normally, four set relationships between object classes: equivalence, inclusion, intersection, and exclusion will be defined to provide ...

Nanoarchitectonics for Heterogeneous Integrated Nanosystems

Proceedings of the IEEE, 2008
Based on projections of the International Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS), the continued scaling of complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) devices will face severe technical challenges. Among the most critical are power dissipation and device-level variabilities that will make circuit design very difficult.

Systems heterogeneity: An integrative way to understand cancer heterogeneity

Seminars in Cell & Developmental Biology, 2017
The concept of systems heterogeneity was firstly coined and explained in the Special Issue, as a new alternative to understand the importance and complexity of heterogeneity in cancer. Systems heterogeneity can offer a full image of heterogeneity at multi-dimensional functions and multi-omics by integrating gene or protein expression, epigenetics ...

Semantic integration of heterogeneous information sources

Data & Knowledge Engineering, 2001
Summary: Developing intelligent tools for the integration of information extracted from multiple heterogeneous sources is a challenging issue to effectively exploit the numerous sources available on-line in global information systems. In this paper, we propose intelligent, tool-supported techniques to information extraction and integration from both ...

Photonic Integrated Circuits Using Heterogeneous Integration on Silicon

Proceedings of the IEEE, 2018
Heterogeneous silicon photonics using wafer bonding is reaching maturity with commercial products for the data center market being shipped in volume. Here we give an overview of recent research in the area showing record device performance by using the best of both worlds: III–V for light generation and Si for guiding the light.

Integrating heterogeneous databases

ACM Computing Surveys, 1996
Providing integrated access to multiple, distributed, heterogeneous, autonomous databases and other information sources is a topic that has been studied in the database research community for well over a decade. There has been a surge of work in the area recently, due primarily to increased demand from customers ("real" customers as well as funding ...

Integrating Heterogeneous Multimedia Resources

2005
This paper proposes a new multimedia metadata that will support integrating non-standard multimedia metadata as well as the standard multimedia metadata. The metadata is defined by integrating MPEG-7 MDS and TV-AnyTime metadata. We also designed and implemented a framework for integrating multimedia databases.
