Effect of Grain Size Distribution on Frictional Wear and Corrosion Properties of (FeCoNi)86Al7Ti7 High-Entropy Alloys

open access: yesEntropy
Optimization of grain size distribution in high-entropy alloys (HEAs) is a promising design strategy to overcome wear and corrosion resistance. In this study, a (FeCoNi)86Al7Ti7 high-entropy alloy with customized isometric and heterogeneous structure, as

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.

Achieving high strength-ductility synergy via layer-wise heterogeneous structure of additively manufactured reduced activation ferrite/martensite steel

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters
The next generation of advanced fusion reactors requires high-performance reduced activation ferrite/martensite (RAFM) steel parts. Here, we propose a new process strategy to achieve high strength-ductility synergy of RAFM steel fabricated by laser ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Tuneable mechanical performance and reusability of 4D-printed heterogeneous metamaterials using shape memory biomass-derived polymer

open access: yesVirtual and Physical Prototyping
Herein, hybrid triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) metamaterials were structurally designed and additively manufactured via 4D printing using a biomass-derived shape memory polymer.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
