Functional and transcriptomic analyses in Neurospora crassa reveal a crucial role for the N‐glycoprotein deglycosylation process in fungal homeostasis

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
In Neurospora crassa, a cytosolic GH18 endo‐β‐n‐acetylglucosaminidase (ENGase) functions as an active deglycosylating enzyme. Deletion of this severely alters tolerance to multiple stress conditions and causes extensive transcriptomic reprogramming, including upregulation of a GH20 exo‐β‐n‐acetylhexosaminidase under ER stress, indicating that N. crassa

A superior heterologous prime‐boost vaccination strategy against COVID‐19: A bivalent vaccine based on yeast‐derived RBD proteins followed by a heterologous vaccine

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology
AbstractVarious vaccines have been challenged by SARS‐CoV‐2 variants. Here, we reported a yeast‐derived recombinant bivalent vaccine (Bivalent wild‐type [Wt]+De) based on the wt and Delta receptor‐binding domain (RBD). Yeast derived RBD proteins based on the wt and Delta mutant were used as the prime vaccine.

Insights into tandem dioxygenases—copper radical oxidases in fungal Phytopathogens of the Colletotrichum acutatum species complex

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
In Colletotrichum acutatum species complex, conserved ring‐cleavage dioxygenases located adjacent to AA5_2 enzymes were investigated as potential redox partners. Biochemical analyses identified the dioxygenases as intradiol‐cleaving enzymes preferentially oxidizing methyl‐substituted catechols, while AA5_2 enzymes displayed weak alcohol oxidase ...

Efficacy Assessment of Montanide GEL 02 PR and Liposome‐Based Encapsulation as Adjuvants for an FrpA Subunit Vaccine Against Photobacteriosis in Solea senegalensis

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Photobacteriosis is a major threat to marine aquaculture, and the siderophore transporter FrpA represents a promising target for effective subunit vaccine development. In this study, we evaluated Montanide GEL 02 PR and phosphatidylcholine‐based liposomes as aqueous and safer alternatives to Freund's adjuvant for an FrpA‐based subunit vaccine ...

Serotypic and Genomic Diversity of Vibrio anguillarum in Rainbow Trout Farms in Turkey: Implications for Vibriosis Control and Vaccine Candidate Selection

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Outbreaks of vibriosis caused by Vibrio anguillarum are a persistent constraint on rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) aquaculture. However, information on the population structure of field strains in Turkey has been lacking. Here, we report the first systematic serotypic, proteomic, and genomic characterization of 23 V.
