Molecular IgE Reactivity Profiling With Micro‐Arrayed Allergens Reveals Distinct Interregional Patterns of Sensitization and a Hypoallergenic Region in Türkiye

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
A prospective, systematic and cross‐sectional population study was performed involving 1000 adult subjects from five centers representing different climatic areas of Türkiye (Turkey). Molecular IgE profiling demonstrated substantial interregional variation and identified a hypoallergenic region in the easternmost area with a continental climate.

BALB/c Mouse Is a Potential Animal Model System for Studying Acute and Chronic Genotype 4 Hepatitis E Virus Infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is the main pathogen of hepatitis worldwide. However, its infection biology and pathogenesis remain largely unknown. Suitable small-animal models are required to advance the study of HEV infection.

Monitoring of Anti-Hepatitis E Virus Antibody Seroconversion in Asymptomatically Infected Blood Donors: Systematic Comparison of Nine Commercial Anti-HEV IgM and IgG Assays

open access: yesViruses, 2016
Diagnosis of hepatitis E virus (HEV) is usually determined serologically by detection of the presence of immunoglobulin (Ig)M antibodies or rising anti-HEV IgG titers.

Climate Change, Air Quality, and Pollen Allergies—State of the Art and Recommendations for Research and Public Health

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Allergies are one of the major health challenges of our time, associated with a high individual burden of disease and high costs for the healthcare system. Given their prevalence, allergies are also highly relevant from a public health perspective. The development of allergic diseases is multifactorial. In addition to individual factors (e.g.,

Serological evidence of infection with rodent-borne hepatitis E virus HEV-C1 or antigenically related virus in humans

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 2016
Zoonotic potential of a rat-derived hepatitis E virus (HEV), designated as HEV-C1, remains unknown. To evaluate the risk for HEV-C1 infection in humans, paired sera of 208 hospitalized febrile patients collected from 2001 to 2003 in Hanoi, Vietnam, were ...

Hepatitis E virus screening in Irish blood donors: Seven years of individual donation nucleic acid testing reveals a frequent blood donor infection—but what is the risk?

open access: yesTransfusion Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Screening blood donations for HEV RNA mitigates the risk of transfusion‐transmitted HEV infection (TT‐HEV), a recognised blood safety issue in Europe. This study reports the findings of government‐funded HEV RNA blood donation screening 2016–2022 and includes an estimate of residual risk. Method Donation samples were universally and
