[71] Acyl phosphate: Hexose phosphotransferase (hexose phosphate: Hexose phosphotransferase)

1966
Publisher Summary This chapter reveals that the acyl phosphate: hexose phosphotransferase is a constitutive enzyme in Aerobacter aerogenes PRL-R3 and is present in cells grown under a variety of conditions. The assay of choice involves the measurement of D-glucose 6-phosphate formed from D-glucose plus acetyl phosphate by coupling the reaction to ...

Interaction of substituted hexose analogues with the Trypanosoma brucei hexose transporter

Biochemical Pharmacology, 2004
Glucose metabolism is essential for survival of bloodstream form Trypanosoma brucei subspecies which cause human African trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness). Hexose analogues may represent good compounds to inhibit glucose metabolism in these cells. Delivery of such compounds to the parasite is a major consideration in drug development.
