Living standards and forced labour: A comparative study of colonial Africa, 1918–74

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, Volume 78, Issue 4, Page 1039-1067, November 2025.
Abstract Despite significant advances in the quantitative study of African history, the Portuguese colonial empire remains an underexplored topic. This paper provides the first quantitative assessment of worker living standards in Angola and Mozambique, contextualized within a broader comparison of colonial African empires.

Regimes of Proof: On Contested Identities in Border and Migration Control

open access: yesInternational Migration, Volume 63, Issue 6, November 2025.
ABSTRACT The capacity to establish migrants' legal identities is key to states' attempts to control access to their territories. This paper introduces the concept of regimes of proof to shed light on this often‐neglected aspect of border and migration control and related migrant struggles.

A CP 2 $$ {\mathbbm{CP}}^2 $$ SMEFT

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
An extension of the Standard Model is proposed, where the Higgs field is valued in the complex projective plane CP 2 $$ {\mathbbm{CP}}^2 $$ , rather than ℂ 2. Its geometry is consistent with U(2) ≃ (SU(2) × U(1))/ℤ 2 electroweak gauge symmetry.

Measurement of cross sections and couplings of the Higgs Boson in bosonic decay channels with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
After the discovery of the Higgs boson, the measurement of its properties are of particular importance. In this paper, measurement of the cross sections and couplings of the Higgs boson in bosonic decay channels with the ATLAS detector are presented ...

Non‐pharmacologicaL InterVEntions for Antipsychotic‐Induced Weight Gain (RESOLVE) in People Living With Severe Mental Illness: A Realist Synthesis

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 26, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Antipsychotic medications are used to treat individuals with severe mental illness (SMI) but are associated with rapid weight gain and several physical and mental risk factors. Early, proactive weight management is necessary to preempt these risk factors.

Time series analysis to demonstrate restoration outcomes and system change from satellite data

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 8, November 2025.
Abstract Introduction Restoring functions to degraded ecosystems is needed to maintain a sustainable planet. Although restoration efforts are widespread, the majority of restoration projects are not monitored, limiting the ability to assess outcomes, adaptively manage, and improve future restoration projects. Remote sensing, with its multi‐decadal data

Matching the real Higgs triplet extension of Standard Model to HEFT

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Focusing on the bosonic sector, we make a first matching of the real Higgs triplet extension (RHTE) of the standard model to the Higgs effective field theory (HEFT), which is also known as electroweak chiral Lagrangian (EWChL), including effects of the ...
