High fat diets and exercise performance
High fat diets seem to improve exercise endurance in animals, although this effect is not uniformly found in humans. Enhancements in endurance appear to be due to physiological changes in skeletal muscles and their milieu, including increased fat oxidative capacity, increased plasma free fatty acid levels, greater mitochondrial density, and increased ...

The Microbiota Shapes Central Nervous System Myelination in Early Life
Gut microbiota shapes brain development by regulating myelination and glial cell maturation in early life. Using germ‐free (GF) mice and zebrafish, this study reveals sex‐ and age‐dependent effects on myelin growth, integrity, and related gene expression.

Connexin43 Deficiency Leads to Ventricular Arrhythmias by Reprogramming Proline Metabolism
The study demonstrated that connexin43 (Cx43) knockout caused arrhythmic phenotype and decreased proline content in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, Cx43 interacts with the amino acid transporter SNAT2 (sodium‐dependent neutral amino acid transporter), and its deficiency disrupts proline transport and metabolism.

This study identifies Pirin (PIR), an iron‐binding protein, as a critical ferroptosis suppressor in colorectal cancer through lipid membrane remodeling. PIR, induced by NRF2 during ferroptotic stress, transcriptionally regulates PLA2G4A to shift cellular lipid composition away from ferroptosis‐permissive polyunsaturated phospholipids.

Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) exerts protein‐dependent neuroprotective effects in an MPTP‐induced Parkinson's disease model. In casein‐fed mice, TRF improves gut barrier integrity and reduces neuroinflammation, possibly via modulation of Allobaculum and BCAAs.
