Taurine supplements in high-fat diets improve survival of juvenile Monopterus albus by reducing lipid deposition and intestinal damage

Aquaculture, 2022
A 8-week feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effects of the addition of taurine to a high-fat diet on growth performance, lipid deposition, antioxidant ability, and intestinal health in juvenile rice field eel (Monopterus albus).

Hexarelin suppresses high lipid diet and vitamin D3-induced atherosclerosis in the rat

Peptides, 2010
Growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRP) and ghrelin are synthetic and natural ligands of growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR) respectively and are shown to exert protective actions on cardiac dysfunction. Because ghrelin has been reported to inhibit proinflammatory responses in human endothelium and GHSR has been identified in blood vessels, we

Hypolipidemic effects of garlic oil in rats fed ethanol and a high lipid diet

Experientia, 1984
Feeding of ethanol and a high fat-high cholesterol diet to rats markedly increased the total lipids in the liver, and cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the serum, liver and kidneys. However, when ethanol mixed with 0.5% garlic oil was fed to animals maintained on the high fat-high cholesterol diet, these lipid levels were significantly reduced to ...

Nano‑selenium supplements in high-fat diets relieve hepatopancreas injury and improve survival of grass carp Ctenopharyngodon Idella by reducing lipid deposition

, 2021
To investigate the effects of supplementing nano‑selenium (Se) in high-fat diet (HFD) on hepatopancreas health and survival of grass carp, six types of experimental diets including low-fat diet (LFD), HFD and HFD supplemented with four levels (0.3 mg kg ...

Molecular characterization of gut microbiota in high‑lipid diet‑induced hyperlipidemic rats treated with simvastatin

International Journal of Molecular Medicine, 2020
Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Simvastatin (SV), a cholesterol‑lowering agent, has been widely used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. Gut microbiota is known to influence drug response, including that to statins. However, the effect of SV on the gut microbiota of hyperlipidemic rats is not fully understood.

Hypercaloric high-lipid diet and brain development: Effects on cortical spreading depression in adult rats

Nutritional Neuroscience, 2013
Nutritional conditions early in life constitute one of the environmental factors that can influence brain electrophysiology, as evaluated through the phenomenon denominated as cortical spreading depression (CSD).To evaluate the effects of hypercaloric diet intake in different phases of life on CSD features in adult rats.Newborn Wistar rats were suckled

Dietary supplementation of bile acid attenuate adverse effects of high-fat diet on growth performance, antioxidant ability, lipid accumulation and intestinal health in juvenile largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides)

, 2021
Bile acid (BA) has been reported to improve growth performance and play an important role in lipid metabolism of fish. Five diets were formulated to investigate the effects of dietary bile acid (chenodeoxycholic acid) supplementation on growth ...

Induction of heme oxygenase in fish by heavy metals, phenylhydrazine and high lipid diets

Marine Environmental Research, 1998
Abstract Heme oxygenase (HO) was measured in fish liver and spleen by a coupled catalytic assay and by immunochemical analysis using an anti-mouse HO-1 antibody. In Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) treated i.p. with cadmium, arsenite and phenylhydrazine, increased levels of HO activity and HO-cross-reacting protein were observed in liver microsomes.

Effect of High Lipid Diet and Allopurinol on the Development of Experimentally Induced Arthritis in Rats

Pharmacology, 1995
Male albino rats were fed a high lipid diet for 5 consecutive weeks. We studied the development of paw inflammation after an injection with Freund's complete adjuvant. Increasing the lipid content of the diet significantly increased the rate of paw inflammation.
