Reynolds Number Effect of a Supercritical Wing Based on Cryogenic and High Reynolds Number Pressure Test

open access: yesAerospace
Supercritical wings are widely used in large aircraft due to their excellent transonic performance, but their aerodynamic characteristics are highly sensitive to Reynolds number. To systematically study the influence of Reynolds number on the aerodynamic

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

A new approach of high speed cutting modelling: SPH method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The purpose of this study is to introduce a new approach of high speed cutting numerical modelling. A lagrangian Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) based model is carried out using the Ls-Dyna software.

Instabilities of High Speed Dislocations

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2018
Despite numerous theoretical models and simulation results, a clear physical picture of dislocations traveling at velocities comparable to the speed of sound in the medium remains elusive. Using two complementary atomistic methods to model uniformly moving screw dislocations, lattice dynamics and molecular dynamics, the existence of mechanical ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Simulating Speed in Language: Contributions from vision, audition and action

open access: yes, 2015
Embodied theories propose that understanding meaning in language requires the mental simulation of entities being referred to. These mental simulations would make use of the same modality-specific systems involved in perceiving and acting upon such ...

High speed interferometric ellipsometer

open access: yesOptics Express, 2008
A novel high speed interferometric ellipsometer (HSIE) is proposed and demonstrated. It is based on a novel differential-phase decoder which is able to convert the phase modulation into amplitude modulation in a polarized heterodyne interferometer.

Transient dynamics of powder spattering in laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing process revealed by in-situ high-speed high-energy x-ray imaging

open access: yesActa Materialia, 2018
Powder spattering is a major cause of defect formation and quality uncertainty in the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing (AM) process. It is very difficult to investigate this with either conventional characterization tools or modeling

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
