A Novel Method for Calculating the Radiated Disturbance From Pantograph Arcing in High-Speed Railway [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2017
Pantograph arcing is a key electromagnetic disturbance source to affect train control system in high-speed railway. Since the characteristics of pantograph arcing is related to train speed, it is necessary to investigate effective numerical modeling and ...

An Improved Air Spring Model for Pantograph on the High-Speed Train

2022
Air spring’s modelling is a relevant subject in the railway field, both for bogie and pantograph suspensions. Considering thermodynamic model has a great advantage for its accuracy and reliability, efforts and huge progress have been made before. However, there are still some parts where efforts could be made: although the air spring’s force and ...

Active Control of Fuzzy for High-Speed Pantograph

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
The regular current collection is very important for high-speed train, and can be obviously improved by the use of active control. In order to study the impact of the fuzzy active control on pantograph-catenary system, the model ohe simulation model is created with the software of simulink.

Influence of a high-speed train passing through a tunnel on pantograph aerodynamics and pantograph–catenary interaction

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part F: Journal of Rail and Rapid Transit, 2016
Aerodynamics of trains running inside tunnels change more significantly in comparison with open air scenarios. It has been confirmed that the lateral vibration as well as the aerodynamic drag of the trains is increased and the micro-pressure wave is produced at the tunnel exit when the trains are passing through tunnels.

Output-feedback control of the contact-force in high-speed-train pantographs

Proceedings of the 40th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. No.01CH37228), 2002
One of the main problems in high-speed train transportation systems is the control of the contact force between the catenary and the pantograph collector end. The equivalent stiffness of the catenary is not constant and this leads to contact force oscillations whose frequency and magnitude mainly depend on the train velocity.

Active Control of a Pantograph Mechanism for High Speed Rail System

2019 IEEE 9th International Conference on System Engineering and Technology (ICSET), 2019
The reduction of vibrations in high speed rail system with pantograph mechanism is crucially important to ensure the best riding comfort for passengers. The objective of this study is to stimulate an active control of a pantograph mechanism in high speed rail system. This project presents an approach to increase the performance of high speed rail train

Numerical Analysis of Aerodynamic Noise of a High-Speed Pantograph

2013 Fourth International Conference on Digital Manufacturing & Automation, 2013
The aerodynamic noise of pantograph is one of the most important noise sources of high speed trains. Therefore, the reduction of the aerodynamic noise of pantograph becomes very important for reducing the total noise level of the high-speed trains. In this paper, the distribution of dipole sound sources at the surface of a single-arm pantograph and the

Thermodynamic models of the air spring on the high-speed pantograph

Vehicle System Dynamics, 2023
The modelling method of the air spring and its additional pneumatic system has been studied more frequently in recent years. As for the railway field, the study of the secondary suspension system of the bogie is the most popular, while little focus is on the air spring of the pantograph.

A feasibility study of an aerodynamic control for a high speed pantograph

2007 IEEE/ASME international conference on advanced intelligent mechatronics, 2007
In the present paper an alternative way to apply active control on a high speed train pantograph is proposed. The control is based on two main concepts: the use the incident air flow on the pantograph as power source, and the application of the control force directly on the collector, i.e.
