A parallel actuated pantograph leg for high-speed locomotion

Journal of Bionic Engineering, 2017
High-speed running is one of the most important topics in the field of legged robots which requires strict constraints on structural design and control. To solve the problems of high acceleration, high energy consumption, high pace frequency and ground impact during high-speed movement, this paper presents a parallel actuated pantograph leg with an ...

Investigation of Pantograph Effect on High-Speed Train Noise

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
Using microphone and removable planar microphone array, the exterior and interior vehicle noise near pantograph were investigated when the train ran at 250-350km/h, the noise spectrum characters of these areas were obtained. The results show that at the pantograph seat and in the vehicle below pantograph, the noise spectrum show a broad band ...

Development of New Low-Noise Pantograph for High-Speed Trains

2021
When increasing the speed of Shinkansen trains, it becomes more important to reduce noise generated from cars. In the past, East Japan Railway Company developed a low-noise pantograph (PS208 type) to equip on the Series E5 Shinkansen trains that was able to reduce aerodynamic noise emitted around pantographs.

Influence of a high-speed train passing through a tunnel on pantograph aerodynamics and pantograph–catenary interaction

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part F: Journal of Rail and Rapid Transit, 2016
Aerodynamics of trains running inside tunnels change more significantly in comparison with open air scenarios. It has been confirmed that the lateral vibration as well as the aerodynamic drag of the trains is increased and the micro-pressure wave is produced at the tunnel exit when the trains are passing through tunnels.

Simulink Model of High-Speed Train Pantograph-Catenary Offline Arc

2020 IEEE International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering and Computer Applications( AEECA), 2020
Based on the classic arc theory, starting from the formation mechanism of high-speed train bownet arc, the modeling method in Simulink simulation environment is analyzed. The model consists of offline motion trajectory simulator, offline arc simulator, external traction network equivalent circuit, train, etc.

Physically based modelling of a high-speed pantograph

2014
Pantographs are the connecting element between the train and the current-carrying contact wire and are so far the limiting factor in the attempt of reaching higher speeds in the railway industry. Their task is to establish a reliable permanent connection between the train and the contact wire while keeping the needed contact force as low as possible to

Aerodynamic noise prediction model of pantograph for high-speed train

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012
In this study, to analyze aerodynamic noise from the pantograph on high-speed train, numerical model was established. We study the mechanism of the noise generation by setting up the simple model and finally analyze entire pantograph model. Based on the Lattice Boltzmann Method, computational fluid analysis was carried out.

Research on the Heat Transfer of High-Speed Railway Pantographs

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
In the pantograph-catenary system of electric railroads, there is friction heat between high-speed moving pantograph sliders and the contact wires, leading to a temperature increase on the contact surface. On the contact surface under the current collecting conditions, there are also contact resistance heat and arc heat produced by the current effect ...

Research of the active control for high-speed train pantograph

2008 IEEE Conference on Cybernetics and Intelligent Systems, 2008
One of the main problems which limit the trains run at a higher speed is the vibration of the contact force between the pantograph and the catenary. In this paper, three kinds of stiffness curves are fitted by using the non-linear least square method and a unified fitting formula is presented. Based on this, a 3-DOF time-variant model of the pantograph

Numerical Analysis of Aerodynamic Noise of a High-Speed Pantograph

2013 Fourth International Conference on Digital Manufacturing & Automation, 2013
The aerodynamic noise of pantograph is one of the most important noise sources of high speed trains. Therefore, the reduction of the aerodynamic noise of pantograph becomes very important for reducing the total noise level of the high-speed trains. In this paper, the distribution of dipole sound sources at the surface of a single-arm pantograph and the
