Pilot demonstration of correlation-domain LiDAR for high-speed vibration detection

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2021
Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology has recently been attracting considerable attention, but it is still difficult to achieve distributed reflectivity sensing and vibration detection simultaneously at high speed.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Dye-enhanced visualization of rat whiskers for behavioral studies

open access: yeseLife, 2017
Visualization and tracking of the facial whiskers is required in an increasing number of rodent studies. Although many approaches have been employed, only high-speed videography has proven adequate for measuring whisker motion and deformation during ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Visualization of High Speed Liquid Jet Impaction on a Moving Surface [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Visualized Experiments, 2015
Two apparatuses for examining liquid jet impingement on a high-speed moving surface are described: an air cannon device (for examining surface speeds between 0 and 25 m/sec) and a spinning disk device (for examining surface speeds between 15 and 100 m/sec).

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Noninvasive, label-free visualization of living killifish embryos using high-speed phase-contrast CT

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Noninvasive, label-free visualization of living embryos represents a notable advancement in developmental sciences. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the capability of a high-speed phase-contrast CT (PCCT) system for noninvasive, label-free ...
