Schisandrin B targets CDK4/6 to suppress proliferation and enhance radiosensitivity in nasopharyngeal carcinoma by inducing cell cycle arrest

open access: yesScientific Reports
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is notably prevalent in East and Southeast Asia, where despite advancements in radiotherapy leading to high control rates, challenges like radioresistance and collateral tissue damage remain significant. While Schisandrin B

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

High-throughput stability screening for detergent-solubilized membrane proteins

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
Protein stability in detergent or membrane-like environments is the bottleneck for structural studies on integral membrane proteins (IMP). Irrespective of the method to study the structure of an IMP, detergent solubilization from the membrane is usually ...

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Robotic Lepidoptery: Structural Characterization of (mostly) Unexpected Palladium Complexes Obtained from High-Throughput Catalyst Screening [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In the course of a high-throughput search for optimal combinations of bidentate ligands with Pd(II) carboxylates to generate oxidation catalysts, we obtained and crystallographically characterized a number of crystalline products. While some combinations

Unraveling the Molecular Mechanisms of Glioma Recurrence: A Study Integrating Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Glioma recurrence severely impacts patient prognosis, with current treatments showing limited efficacy. Traditional methods struggle to analyze recurrence mechanisms due to challenges in assessing tumor heterogeneity, spatial dynamics, and gene networks.

Clinical Conditions Associated With a High Antinuclear Antibody Titer in Individuals Without Autoimmune Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) are present at high titers in 2% of the general population, but their clinical significance in individuals without an autoimmune (AI) disease is not known. We tested the hypothesis that the presence of a high ANA titer in non‐AI conditions is associated with disease.

High-throughput screening of encapsulated islets using wide-field lens-free on-chip imaging

open access: yes, 2018
Islet microencapsulation is a promising solution to diabetes treatment, but its quality control based on manual microscopic inspection is extremely low-throughput, highly variable and laborious.

Models for calcific aortic valve disease in vivo and in vitro

open access: yesCell Regeneration
Calcific Aortic Valve Disease (CAVD) is prevalent among the elderly as the most common valvular heart disease. Currently, no pharmaceutical interventions can effectively reverse or prevent CAVD, making valve replacement the primary therapeutic recourse ...

Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...
