Active high voltage insulation
Journal of Electrostatics, 2002This paper presents a new concept for an active high voltage insulation system with dynamic and adaptive features. The governing principle is based on surface charge accumulation on dielectrically covered electrodes in air under atmospheric pressure.

Porcelain for High Voltage Insulators
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1936In this paper the mechanical failure of porcelain is discussed with special reference to 3 seldom recognized characteristics: the effect of the porcelain surface on the strength, the apparent anomalous distribution of individual mechanical test values, and the effect of time on mechanical strength.

High Voltage Insulation Systems
2020This chapter discusses insulation system design for the HG windings suitable for a 38.1 kV RMS phase voltage machine. The machine initial phase 6.35 kV voltage is scaled in steps to obtain the targeted 38.1 kV and appropriate winding insulations for each design step is considered.

High Voltage Insulation Applications
IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1978This paper is intended to present an outline and a discussion of thevarious aspects and areas of application of electrical insulation forhigh voltage. The specific objectives of the applications will beparticularly pointed out, and the present state of the art indicated. Also, the relation of basic dielectric research, and research and developmentent ...

Pulsed high-voltage insulation experiments
2014 IEEE 41st International Conference on Plasma Sciences (ICOPS) held with 2014 IEEE International Conference on High-Power Particle Beams (BEAMS), 2014It has been conjectured that vacuum dielectric surface flashover can be avoided by preventing its initiation1. Assuming that the flashover process is initiated by impact of charged particles on the insulator surface, by deflecting these particles away from the surface, the development of a flashover avalanche can be repressed.

Insulation for High Voltage Equipment
2021The insulation of high voltage apparatus is distinguished between internal and external insulation. The internal insulation is made fluid, gaseous or solid material. Beside the well-known insulation with oil-paper, SF6, or cast resin there are also new trends discussed. As external insulation porcelain as well as composite insultors are described.

High voltage generator insulation
1963 EI Electrical Insulation Conference Materials and Application, 1963The insulation of high voltage stator windings for electric utility generators must have a very high order of reliability. Machines of this category have always been of extreme importance because of their size with the accompanying high capital investment and the dependence of so many things in our society upon their continuous and uninterrupted ...

Insulation characteristics of high-voltage cables
Proceedings of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1917The insulation characteristics of different types of single- and three-conductor cable, determined largely by dielectric energy loss measurements, are discussed in detail. Particular attention is given to paper insulated cable, both new cable and cable that has been in service being considered.

Fundamentals of high voltage insulation
Conference Record of 1993 Annual Pulp and Paper Industry Technical Conference, 2002A practical view of high-voltage insulation encountered mainly in rotating electrical machines is presented, with only the essential mathematics in elementary form. Insulation fundamentals are discussed, and specific insulation materials and applications are described. >
