Replacement of dietary saturated fatty acids by trans fatty acids lowers serum HDL cholesterol and impairs endothelial function in healthy men and women [PDF]
We tested whether trans fatty acids and saturated fatty acids had different effects on flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD), a risk marker of coronary heart disease (CHD). Consumption of trans fatty acids is related to increased risk of CHD, probably through

Objective Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is characterized by cardiovascular risk excess not fully explained by traditional factors. Whether the severity of microvascular damage correlates with structural subclinical atherosclerosis remains unclear. We investigated the relationship between nailfold videocapillaroscopy (NVC) abnormalities and carotid ...

Arginine-directed glycation and decreased HDL plasma concentration and functionality [PDF]
Background/Objectives: Decreased plasma concentration of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) is a risk factor linked to increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Decreased anti-atherogenic properties of HDL are also implicated in increased

Fusogenic RNA Nanomodules for Fusion‐Mediated and Multiplexed siRNA Delivery
A fusogenic lipid‐layered RNA nanomodules (L‐CRAMs) enable high‐capacity and long‐lasting siRNA delivery through membrane fusion. These nanomodules carry exceptionally large siRNA payloads, avoid conventional endosomal uptake, and release multiple functional siRNAs through Dicer‐mediated processing.

Evidence on the association between the non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection remains limited. This study investigates this correlation based on the U.S.

MicroRNAs and High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Metabolism
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-protein-coding RNAs that negatively regulate gene expression. They bind to the 3'-untranslated region of specific mRNAs and inhibit translation or promote mRNA degradation. Dyslipidemia/hyperlipidemia is a well-accepted risk factor for the development of atherosclerosis.

Protein and cell therapy for lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) deficiency [PDF]
Lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) is an enzyme principally secreted by the liver into the circulation where it esterifies cholesterol and plays a key role in high- density lipoprotein (HDL) metabolism. In familial and acquired (liver disease)

Design and intermediate results of the Lower Extremity Arterial Disease Event Reduction (LEADER)* trial of bezafibrate in men with lower extremity arterial disease [ISRCTN4119421]. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Raised levels of both triglycerides and fibrinogen, each of which are reduced by bezafibrate, may contribute to lower extremity arterial disease (LEAD).

Lipoprotein‐mimicking nanoparticles (SL‐NPs), comprising Fe3O4@SiO2 cores coated with liposomal bilayers, selectively capture lipoproteins through protein corona formation. The resulting SL‐NP‐lipoprotein complexes can be removed by low‐speed centrifugation, thereby enhancing the purity of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) isolated from human serum ...
