Generation of silicone poly-HIPES with controlled pore sizes via reactive emulsion stabilization

open access: yes, 2016
Macrocellular silicone polymers are obtained after solidification of the continuous phase of a PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) emulsion, which contains PEG (polyethylene glycol) drops of sub-millimetric dimensions. Coalescence of the liquid template emulsion

Physics of puffing and microexplosion of emulsion fuel droplets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The physics of water-in-oil emulsion droplet microexplosion/puffing has been investigated using high-fidelity interface-capturing simulation. Varying the dispersed-phase (water) sub-droplet size/location and the initiation location of explosive boiling ...

An All‐Optical Driven Bio‐Photovoltaic Interface for Active Control of Live Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐photovoltaic Interface (BIO‐PV‐I) for live cell manipulation is presented. BIO‐PV‐I can be activated non‐invasively and remotely to control the spatial motility, adhesion, and morphology of cells adhering to it. BIO‐PV‐I uses a patterned light‐induced electric potential in iron‐doped lithium niobate crystals whose light‐driven and reversible nature,

3D Carbonaceous Foams Derived from High Internal Phase Emulsion for Energy Applications

open access: yesChemElectroChem
In recent years, there has been a notable increase in interest regarding monolithic porous polymers known as poly(High Internal Phase Emulsion) – poly(HIPE) – which are synthesized from high internal phase emulsions.

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

Simulation of Beef Tallow Based on Quinoa Protein-Stabilized Pickering Emulsion [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
In this study, high-internal phase Pickering emulsions (HIPPEs) were prepared by high speed shearing using quinoa protein isolate (QPI) as interfacial particles, corn oil as dispersed phase, and beef bone broth or beef powder solution as continuous phase,

Insoluble soybean polysaccharides: Obtaining and evaluation of their O/W emulsifying properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The aims of this work were to obtain different samples of insoluble soybean polysaccharides (ISPS) from defatted soy flour and to study their potential application as O/W emulsifier. In this regard, the insoluble residue (okara) resulting from an aqueous

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.
