U.S. Earnings Mobility: Comparing Survey-Based and Administrative-Based Estimates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Earnings mobility has been studied both at the macro level (how much of a certain kind of mobility is there in the economy?) and at the micro level (what are the correlates of change in income or position?).

Enhanced Li‐Ion Battery Performance with Hybrid MXene/GnR Electrodes: Heterojunctions and Engineered Architectures Supported by DFT Mechanistic Studies for Improved Rate Performance, Stability & Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) remain central to energy storage but suffer from slow ion transport and degradation. Here, we present a binder‐free Ti3C2Tx MXene/GnR hybrid electrode with a porous 3D architecture formed via freeze casting. The structure enhances conductivity, ion transport, and stability, delivering 401 mAh/g, ∼97% efficiency, and 92 ...

High mobility group box protein 1 sensitizes mononuclear cells to further contact with lipopolysaccharide

open access: yesCentral European Journal of Immunology
Fever is an adaptive host-defense response to infection and nowadays is rightly considered to be an expression of a healthy body and a well-functioning immune system. The condition is that it must be tightly regulated.

Statistically Resolving Thickness‐Dependent Electrical Characteristics in Multilayer‐MoS2 Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 45, 5 June 2026.
A large number of MoS2 flakes were screened to obtain high‐quality flakes based on optical intensities in R, G, and B channel images. The flakes were classified from Level 1 to 6 based on optical intensities in the R, G, and B channel images. Low‐quality flake exhibited wrinkled, folded, or overlapped features, while high‐quality displayed a neat ...

Toward Stable Multivalent Metal Batteries: Understanding the Interfacial Chemistry for Magnesium and Calcium Metal Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 45, 5 June 2026.
Interphase chemistry governs the stability of multivalent metal batteries. We summarize state‐of‐the‐art developments in calcium and magnesium metal batteries by focusing on the correlation among electrolytes, interphase layers, and the electrochemical performance of corresponding metal anodes.

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

The role of oxidative stress during inflammatory processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The production of various reactive oxidant species in excess of endogenous antioxidant defense mechanisms promotes the development of a state of oxidative stress, with significant biological consequences.

Dirac eigenmodes at the QCD Anderson transition

open access: yes, 2014
Recently we found an Anderson-type localization-delocalization transition in the QCD Dirac spectrum at high temperature. Using spectral statistics we obtained a critical exponent compatible with that of the corresponding Anderson model. Here we study the

Ultrasmall Platinum Nanoparticles for Radiation‐Enhanced Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 45, 5 June 2026.
This work proposes a nanomedicine‐based strategy to enhance X‐ray radiotherapy for cancer treatment. Ultrasmall Pt‐NPs exhibit catalase‐like activity that may contribute to modulation of the tumor microenvironment and amplify interactions between radiation and biological matter, leading to increased DNA damage.
