INTERACTION OF VESICULAR MONOAMINE TRANSPORTER 2 (VMAT2) AND NEUROMELANIN PIGMENT AMONG THE MIDBRAIN DOPAMINERGIC NEURONS, IN MAN [PDF]
Neuromelanin (NM) pigment accumulates with age in catecholaminergic neurons in man, and the ventral substantia nigra dopaminergic neurons that are the most vulnerable to degeneration in Parkinson's disease (PD) contain the greatest amount of this pigment.

Electrically Coded Retinomorphic Spectrophotodetector
Self‐powered retinomorphic pyro‐photodetector is demonstrated that avoids machine‐learning post‐processing and covers 365–940 nm. Electrostatic balancing of built‐in potential produces an electrical wavelength code, delivering <3 nm wavelength decoding accuracy with ∼46 µs response.

The role of lipid in malaria pigment (Haemozoin) formation under biomimetic conditions [PDF]
Includes bibliographical references.Previous studies have proposed lipids and/or proteins to be involved in the biomineralization process of haemozoin formation in the malaria parasite which is a target for many antimalarial drugs.

High-pressure processing of Manuka honey: brown pigment formation, improvement of antibacterial activity and hydroxymethylfurfural content [PDF]
This work was undertaken to assess the effects of high-pressure processing on brown pigment formation, antibacterial activity and hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) content in Manuka honey. The honey was subjected to different pressures (200–600 MPa) at ambient

Therapeutic nano‐drug delivery systems interact with cellular mitochondria in a multitude of ways. While the complexity of such interactions disrupts the mitochondrial electron transport chain and increases reactive oxygen species production, thereby contributing to nanoparticle toxicity, they also present unique theranostic opportunities in diseases ...

Supramolecular aggregation governs the interfacial adsorption, diffusion, and fixation of anthraquinone‐based vat dyes in meta‐aramid fibers. By correlating reduction chemistry, aggregate formation, and fiber microstructure, a multiscale mechanism for aggregation‐controlled dyeing is established, providing an effective strategy to suppress surface dye ...
