Safety of hydrogen storage and transportation: An overview on mechanisms, techniques, and challenges

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
The extensive usage of fossil fuels has caused significant environmental pollution, climate change and energy crises. The significant advantages of hydrogen, such as cleanliness, high efficiency, and a wide range of sources, make it quite promising ...

Experiments on the compression of liquids at high pressures [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Containing Papers of a Mathematical and Physical Character, 1911
During the experiments on the behaviour of carbon under high pressures and temperatures, of which an account was given in the paper read before this Society by the Hon. C. A. Parsons on June 27, 1907, very considerable volumetric compressions were observed, and the apparatus then employed appeared to be equally suitable for the direct measurement of ...

MET and NF2 alterations confer primary and early resistance to first‐line alectinib treatment in ALK‐positive non‐small‐cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Alectinib resistance in ALK+ NSCLC depends on treatment sequence and EML4‐ALK variants. Variant 1 exhibited off‐target resistance after first‐line treatment, while variant 3 and later lines favored on‐target mutations. Early resistance involved off‐target alterations, like MET and NF2, while on‐target mutations emerged with prolonged therapy.

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

Closed loop operation eliminates need for auxiliary gas in high pressure pumping station [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Closed loop system for a liquid nitrogen high pressure pump feeds back gaseous nitrogen generated by heat leak into the reservoir to maintain the pressure in the storage tank.

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Comprehensive profiling of lncRNAs and mRNAs enriched in small extracellular vesicles for early noninvasive detection of colorectal cancer: diagnostic panel assembly and extensive validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Small extracellular vesicles are a promising source of diagnostic molecules. We conducted a comprehensive study, including transcriptome profiling and RT‐qPCR validation on large cohorts of samples. Diagnostic panels enabling sensitive detection of colorectal cancer and precancerous lesions were established. Some molecules were differentially expressed

Random Packing Modelling under High Pressure for Gas-Liquid Systems

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
This work presents a design principle for the prediction of the separation efficiency of random, non-perforated and lattice-type, packing with different size and type for gas-liquid systems under high pressure up to 90 bar for distillation and absorption

Creation of prompt and thin-sheet splashing by varying surface roughness or increasing air pressure

open access: yes, 2012
A liquid drop impacting a solid surface may splash by emitting a thin liquid sheet that subsequently breaks apart or by promptly ejecting droplets from the advancing liquid-solid contact line.
