Effective Temperature of High Pressure Torsion in Zr-Nb Alloys

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2012
Severe plastic deformation by the high pressure torsion (HPT) leads to the phase transitions and strong grain refinement. The starting α Zr-phase in Zr alloyed by 2.5 and 8 mass% Nb transforms into β + ω mixture.

From unlikely pairings to functional nanocomposites: FeTi–Cu as a model system

open access: yesMaterials Today Advances, 2023
In order to develop materials for energy storage, a bulk nanocomposite with a composition of FeTi-25 vol% Cu was prepared by high-pressure torsion, with FeTi as functional phase for hydrogen storage and Cu as ductile phase to improve the processability ...

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

A Mathematical Model of Deformation under High Pressure Torsion Extrusion

open access: yesMetals, 2019
High pressure torsion extrusion (HPTE) is a promising new mechanism for severe plastic deformation of metals and alloys. It enables the manufacture of long products with a radial gradient ultrafine-grained structure and of composite materials with a ...

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Affecting the Properties of Copper–Graphene Electroconductive Composite by Severe Plastic Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Copper‐based composites enhanced with carbon feature convenient mechanical properties and favorable electric conductivity. Processing via deformation and thermomechanical treatments can introduce advantageous microstructures further enhancing their performance. Herein, copper–graphene powder‐based composites are directly consolidated via rotary swaging

Effect of Accumulative High-Pressure Torsion on Structure and Electrochemical Behavior of Biodegradable Fe-30Mn-5Si (wt.%) Alloy

open access: yesCrystals
A high-pressure torsion (HPT) with a number of revolutions (n) of up to 10 and an advanced method of accumulative HPT (AccHPT), n = 10 with subsequent post-deformation annealing (PDA) at 500 and 600 °C, were applied to a biodegradable Fe-30Mn-5Si (wt ...
