Local Vaporization at the Cut Front at High Laser Cutting Speeds [PDF]

open access: yesLasers in Manufacturing and Materials Processing, 2020
AbstractHigh-speed videos of the cut front and spectrometric measurements were applied to detect local vaporization on the cut front at high cutting speeds to show that with increasing feed rate, temporally short and intense flashes are generated by vaporization phenomena on the upper part of the cut front.

Turning with shallow cuts at high speeds

open access: yesBureau of Standards Journal of Research, 1929
Abstract In this paper a method is described for testing lathe tools under shallow cuts and fine feeds. The relations are determined between the cutting speed, feed, depth of cut, and tool life for carbon and high-speed tool steels. Comparisons are made of tools of different forms and of tool life when cutting dry and with water or lard ...

Behavior of Cutting Heat in High Speed Cutting.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering, 1998
