High-energy kink in high-temperature superconductors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In conventional metals, electron-phonon coupling, or the phonon-mediated interaction between electrons, has long been known to be the pairing interaction responsible for the superconductivity.

Thermal properties of fluoride mixtures near the melting point

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta
The thermal diffusivity of LiF-NaF-KF (FLiNaK), NaF-KF and FliNaK-NdF3 mixtures was studied by laser flash method near the melting point. The obtained results demonstrate that the thermal diffusivity of the melts slowly decreases within a certain ...

Recycled carbonates elevate the electrical conductivity of deeply subducting eclogite in the Earth’s interior

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment, 2023
The elevated pressure and temperature conditions encountered by a subducted slab entering the deep Earth can substantially alter the chemical composition and physical properties of recycled carbonates.

Stability and Thermoelasticity of Diaspore by Synchrotron X-ray Diffraction and Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
The thermoelasticity and stability of diaspore (α-AlOOH, Al1.002Fe0.003OOH) were investigated in this study by in situ synchronous X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy methods at high pressure and high temperature conditions.

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

V. On the measurement of high temperatures [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London
Abstract If all the experiments had been recorded, which at different times must undoubtedly have been made on the subject of Pyrometry, by those engaged in operations requiring the accurate management of fire, the catalogue would consist principally of abortive attempts, if not of decided failures.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
