Construction of a Suspended Insulator of High-voltage Power Lines
The article substantiates the relevance of theoretical studies of partial discharge currents. Electromagnetic processes occurring on the surface of a suspended insulator are considered. The design of a poppet suspension insulator is given. The physical process of the pulse current occurrence is described.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Ambient Temperature Effects on a High Voltage Power Line
The temperature increase causes a heating of the line conductors which is at the origin of the tension drops and the losses joule increases in line which cause a dilation of the line conductors. In this paper, we investigate of the ambient temperature influence on some quantities of power lines, including line resistance, line voltage drops, joule ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Why human connection is the true metric of research success
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

Features of designing high-voltage overhead power lines in an underground collector
Problem. Protection of HV overhead power lines (OPL) from external atmospheric and military influences and reduction of their hazardous electromagnetic radiation is possible if they are made in a compact form and placed in an underground collector.
