Automatic High Voltage Continuity Test for Winding Wires

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1992
Abstract The paper describes a whole quality control automation for a manufacturing plant of winding wires. Every section contains several production machines which produces from 8 to 24 wires simultaneously. In a first step, we develope a high voltage continuity test apparatus connected to a microprocessor board.

On-line monitoring of high voltage stator windings

IEE Colloquium on Condition Monitoring of Electrical Machines, 1995
The drive to obtain improvements in plant economy, availability and useful operating life has led naturally to an increasing interest in the possibility of monitoring all aspects of machine condition whilst the plant is operating in normal service. On-line monitoring of discharge activity in the stator winding insulation structure can give a sensitive ...

High frequency and high voltage tests on electric motors stator windings

ICSD'01. Proceedings of the 20001 IEEE 7th International Conference on Solid Dielectrics (Cat. No.01CH37117), 2002
The influence of a PWM waveform on motor insulation lifetime is studied. In the first stage of the work, tests are performed on a motor, reproducing its working conditions: by means of suitable taps, the turn-to-ground voltage existing on the turns of the first two coils as better specified below are acquired.

Insulation condition of a high voltage waterwheel generator winding

1965 Sixth Electrical Insulation Conference, 1965
Diagnostic tests on insulation of old windings prior to rewind can add much to an understanding of the mechanism leading to failure in a machine as well as the relative effectiveness of the various test methods for evaluating insulation condition. An excellent opportunity to make such a study occurred when plans were made to replace the entire stator ...

Studies of voltage surges in a high-voltage electric motor and adjustment of a winding model

Russian Electrical Engineering, 2007
Pulse voltages were measured on the main and longitudinal insulation in a high-voltage electric motor. The velocity with which the electromagnetic wave propagates is shown to significantly increase under the effect of voltage pulses with short wave fronts (τf < 0.25 μs).

The inter-winding insulation and tendency of nominal voltage increase in high voltage asynchronous machines

1998 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (Cat. No.98CH36257), 2002
This paper suggests an increase of rated voltage of electrical machines as means to improve the efficiency of use of electrical energy. A solution is to raise the high voltage asynchronous machines voltage to the level of the high voltage distribution network supply voltage, thus enabling a direct connection into the network, as the case with low ...

Extension of the post impregnation concept to high voltage windings

1973 EIC 11th Electrical Insulation Conference, 1973
The past decade has witnessed increasing utilization of the post impregnation concept of processing stator windings. The projections initially made as to the ability of post impregnated windings to, endure against moisture, chemical, and other unfavorable environments have been substantiated by prolonged and varied service experience(1,2).

Voltage distribution in the windings of an AC motor subjected to high dV/dt PWM voltages

Proceedings of PESC '95 - Power Electronics Specialist Conference, 2002
In this paper voltage distribution in the windings of an induction motor subjected to PWM voltage waveforms is studied. A circuit model with the first few turns of the first coil modeled as a distributed transmission line is developed for a general purpose, mush wound low voltage induction motor.

Delamination and cracking failures in high-voltage stator winding coatings

Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Conference, 2002
A coupled finite element analysis is employed to understand the role that induced high voltages play in leading to stress which can initiate cracking in stator winding coatings. Specifically, the current flow due to the induced voltages is treated as a heat generating source in the wire and its coatings.
