The effect of cotton fibre characteristics on the measurement of their resistance to rupture. Contribution to the study of the quality of measurements made using high volume instruments (HVI) [PDF]
Cotton fiber strength as measured by HVI is the results of a calculation taking into account the results from a mechanical test and from an optical characterization of the number of broken fibers. This poster presents the general conditions that were used to check the precision and the accuracy of the strength measurement on a set of cotton covering a ...

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Miniature Laser Doppler Velocimeter for Measuring Wall Shear [PDF]
A miniature optoelectronic instrument has been invented as a nonintrusive means of measuring a velocity gradient proportional to a shear stress in a flow near a wall. The instrument, which can be mounted flush with the wall, is a variant of a basic laser

Accurate and regular calibration of measuring instruments plays a vital role in maintaining product quality and the safety of industrial processes. In busy workshops, prioritizing the calibration of instruments is of great importance. This paper presents a simple and practical model named ABCD, which categorizes measuring instruments into four groups ...
