Bounded Higher-order Unification using Regular Terms

We present an algorithm for the bounded unification of higher-order terms.The algorithm extends G. P. Huet's pre-unification algorithm with rules for the generation and folding of regular terms.The concise form of the algorithm allows the reuse of the pre-unification correctness proof.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

The Skyrme model and higher order terms

Abstract We generalize the Skyrme lagrangian by considering a set of higher order terms in derivatives of the pion field (up to order twelve) using a systematic approach. We then consider a combination of those terms which preserves the equation for the chiral angle as a second-degree differential equation.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Higher-Order Kerr Terms Allow Ionization-Free Filamentation in Gases

We show that higher-order nonlinear indices ($n_4$, $n_6$, $n_8$, $n_{10}$) provide the main defocusing contribution to self-channeling of ultrashort laser pulses in air and Argon at 800 nm, in contrast with the previously accepted mechanism of filamentation where plasma was considered as the dominant defocusing process.
