Critical Combinations of Higher-Order Terms in Einstein-Maxwell Theory and Compactification

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2015
We discuss the role of a particular combination of higher derivative terms in higher dimensional theories, particularly in the background of spontaneous compactification. Two classes of theories are proposed in this paper.

Transionospheric Microwave Propagation: Higher-Order Effects up to 100 GHz [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Ionospheric refraction is considered as one of the major accuracy limiting factors in microwave space-based geodetic techniques such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR), very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI), Doppler ...

MATRIX MODEL PERTURBED BY HIGHER ORDER CURVATURE TERMS [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 1992
The critical behavior of the D=0 matrix model with the potential perturbed by a nonlocal term generating touchings between random surfaces is studied. It is found that the phase diagram of the model has many features of the phase diagram of discretized Polyakov’s bosonic string with higher order curvature terms included.

The Effects of Higher-Order Ionospheric Terms on GPS Tropospheric Delay and Gradient Estimates

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Atmospheric delays, e.g., ionospheric delay and tropospheric delay, are the dominant error sources for the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), especially for Precise Point Positioning (PPP).

Williams Expansion Terms and their Importance for Accurate Stress Field Description in Specimens with a Crack [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava, Mechanical Series, 2013
The paper deals with an analysis of the stress and displacement fields in various cracked specimens (loaded in mode I as well as in mode II). The main goal is to determine an accurate approximation of the near-crack-tip fields which can be subsequently

From symmetric networks to heteroclinic dynamics and chaos in coupled phase oscillators with higher-order interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
This is the author accepted manuscript. The final version is available from Springer Nature via the DOI in this record We highlight some results from normal form theory for symmetric bifurcations that give a rational way to organize higher-order ...

Positive solutions of higher-order Sturm–Liouville boundary value problems with fully nonlinear terms

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2018
In this paper we consider the existence of positive solutions of nth-order Sturm–Liouville boundary value problems with fully nonlinear terms, in which the nonlinear term f involves all of the derivatives u′,…,u(n−1) $u',\ldots, u^{(n-1)}$ of the unknown

Problem-based learning: Its effect on higher-order mathematical thinking skills in terms of student's initial abilities and mathematical beliefs

open access: yesAl-Jabar, 2021
The higher-order thinking ability of students in Indonesia is still in the low category. This research aims to see the effect of the application of a problem-based learning model on higher-order mathematical thinking skills in terms of student's initial ...

Are Fertility Preservation Procedures Before Gonadotoxic Therapy and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Feasible and Safe in Very Young Children? A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Fertility preservation (FP) is increasingly integrated into the care of pediatric patients exposed to gonadotoxic therapy or conditioning for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), yet perioperative data in infants and toddlers remain scarce.
