T-stress determination using thermoelastic stress analysis [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design, 2008
T-stress and mixed-mode stress intensity factors have been determined experimentally using thermoelastic stress analysis and using a finite element method. Pure mode I, strong mixed-mode I and II, and interacting cracks have been used as the case studies. A new technique has been proposed to identify the crack tip from thermoelastic images.

Crack branching at low tip speeds: spilling the T [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical, Computational and Applied Mechanics, 2023
Using the criterion that a crack will extend along the direction of maximum circumferential stress, this paper demonstrates the influence of the coupling between the crack-parallel T-stress and the tip speed on the directional (in)stability of dynamics ...

Propagation behavior of two collinear mode Ⅰ cracks driven by explosive gas

open access: yes矿业科学学报, 2023
In smooth pre-splitting blasting, two collinear cracks extending opposite to each other between adjacent holes will first avoid each other and then attract each other, resulting in crack propagation path that often presents hooked or butterfly-shaped ...

Fracture failure mechanism and fracture criterion of compacted clay under compression and shear action

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2021
Soil cracks are often considered to be caused by tensile-shear stress. In actual engineering, the compacted clay is mostly under compressive-shear stress state.

Compression-shear tension fracture criteria for rock-like materials considering geometric characteristics of cracks and T-stresses

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2020
In order to explore the fracture mechanism of open cracks under compression-shear stress in rock-like materials, a relative passivation coefficient and a relative critical size are introduced, and a compression-shear-tension fracture criterion ...

T T ¯ $$ T\overline{T} $$ Deformation of stress-tensor correlators from random geometry

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We study stress-tensor correlators in the T T ¯ $$ T\overline{T} $$ -deformed conformal field theories in two dimensions. Using the random geometry approach to the T T ¯ $$ T\overline{T} $$ deformation, we develop a geometrical method to compute stress ...

Differences in perceived parental stress between parents with very low birth weight infants and nurses in neonatal intensive care units, South Korea [PDF]

open access: yesChild Health Nursing Research, 2021
Purpose This descriptive study compared the perceived parental stress levels between parents with very low birth weight infants (VLBWIs) and nurses in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Methods In total, 83 parents of VLBWIs and 78 NICU nurses were

An Extended Finite Element Method (XFEM) Study on the Elastic T-Stress Evaluations for a Notch in a Pipe Steel Exposed to Internal Pressure

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The work investigates the importance of the K-T approach in the modelling of pressure cracked structures. T-stress is the constant in the second term of the Williams expression; it is often negligible, but recent literature has shown that there are cases

Hydraulic fracture prediction theory based on the minimumstrain energy density criterion

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2019
Hydraulic fracturing is a promising technique used in oil and gas reservoirs, enhanced geothermal systems, and coal gas production.Although its use is widespread, many aspects of hydraulic fracturing are still not well understood and need to be further ...
