Quantitative analysis of the intensity distribution of optical rogue waves

open access: yesCommunications Physics
The field of optical rogue waves is a rapidly expanding topic with a focus on explaining their emergence. To complement this research, instead of providing a microscopic model that generates extreme events, we concentrate on a general quantitative ...

A priori estimates for the Hill and Dirac operators [PDF]

open access: yesRussian Journal of Mathematical Physics, 2008
Consider the Hill operator $Ty=-y''+q'(t)y$ in $L^2(\R)$, where $q\in L^2(0,1)$ is a 1-periodic real potential. The spectrum of $T$ is is absolutely continuous and consists of bands separated by gaps $\g_n,n\ge 1$ with length $|\g_n|\ge 0$. We obtain a priori estimates of the gap lengths, effective masses, action variables for the KDV. For example, if $

Thermodynamic Limits to Molecular Doping in Conjugated Polymers: A Perspective on Phase Behavior and Miscibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular doping of conjugated polymers is fundamentally constrained by thermodynamic phase behavior. This Perspective reframes doping efficiency and stability in terms of miscibility limits, binodals, and solvus boundaries, highlighting the role of effective interaction parameters and charge transfer.

Solvent‐Guided Chiral Assemblies and Chemical Doping of OEG‐Functionalized Conjugated Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Solvent‐dependent aggregation pathways dictate whether conjugated polymers form chiral lyotropic liquid‐crystalline assemblies or achiral packed aggregates. Mapping solvent‐controlled β₁ and β2 states reveals that weaker backbone association favors β₁ aggregates and reorganizable twisted mesophases, whereas stronger backbone association favors β2 ...

Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Lunar Surface: Prospects for In Situ Resource Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Water has been found in craters on the moon nearby locations which are illuminated >80% of the time. Photocatalysis uses energy from sunlight to drive chemical reactions such as water splitting to produce oxygen and hydrogen. It is a scalable technology that requires lighter equipment and utilizes resources available on the moon. ABSTRACT The discovery

The Influence of Mesoscale Particle Structure on the Electrode Degradation and Resultant Electrochemistry of Lithium Ion Cells With Nickel Rich Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide Positive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Milled polycrystalline NMC811 cathode (MPC NMC) with smaller secondary particle and higher surface area had 1) greater cathode tortuosity, 2) reduced surface Ni on the cycled MPC cathodes consistent with surface reconstruction, and 3) increased Ni deposition from cathode‐anode crosstalk, manifesting in lower functional capacity and higher impedance ...

MANGO‐“Fruitcage”: A Conditional Photocage Utilizing a Fluorescence Light‐Up Aptamer

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Fruitcaging ‐ a proof of concept study of a conditional photocage (Thiazol‐Orange) activated upon binding to the fluorescence light up aptamer (Mango). The prolongation of the excited state lifetime explains the redirection of the reactive pathway toward photocleavage and provides a sensitive spectroscopic readout.

Robotic Control for Human–Robot Collaborative Assembly Based on Digital Human Model and Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a robotic control method for human–robot collaborative assembly based on a biomechanics‐constrained digital human model. Reinforcement learning is used to generate physiologically plausible human motion trajectories, which are integrated into a virtual environment for robot control learning.
