Are we missing the sitting? Agreement between accelerometer non-wear time validation methods used with older adults’ data

open access: yesCogent Medicine, 2017
We used Bland Altman plots to compare agreement between a self-report diary and five different non-wear time algorithms [an algorithm that uses ≥60 min of consecutive zeroes (Troiano) and four variations of an algorithm that uses ≥90 min of consecutive ...

Return to Activity After Gluteus Medius Repair in Active Patients Older Than 50 Years

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2021
Background: Gluteus medius (GM) tears are a known cause of dysfunction and disability predominantly in older women. Purpose To report on return to activity, patient-reported outcomes (PROs), and a uniquely calculated minimal clinically important ...

Venous Thromboembolism in Pediatric Bone Sarcoma Patients: A 10‐Year, Single‐Institution Experience Encompassing the COVID‐19 Pandemic

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Osteosarcoma (OS) and Ewing sarcoma (EWS) are the most common primary bone cancers in children, but acute thrombosis is poorly characterized in this population. Our study evaluated the rates of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and associated risk factors in pediatric patients with bone sarcomas treated over a 10‐year period encompassing

Evaluation of range of motion restriction within the hip joint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In Total Hip Arthroplasty, determining the impingement free range of motion requirement is a complex task. This is because in the native hip, motion is restricted by both impingement as well as soft tissue restraint. The aim of this study is to determine

Association between patient survival following reoperation after total hip replacement and the reason for reoperation: an analysis of 9,926 patients in the Swedish Hip Arthroplasty Register

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica, 2019
Background and purpose — The association between long-term patient survival and elective primary total hip replacement (THR) has been described extensively. The long-term survival following reoperation of THR is less well understood.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Clinical Outcomes and Return to Sport in Competitive Athletes Undergoing Iliopsoas Fractional Lengthening as a Part of Hip Arthroscopy - Minimum Two-Year Follow-Up

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2017
Objectives: The iliopsoas is a hip flexor and stabilizer that may be associated with internal snapping. Although flexion and stability are important in competitive athletes, painful internal snapping may be debilitating and may necessitate arthroscopic ...
