An octannulate Orobdella leech, Orobdella octonaria Oka, 1895, is redescribed on the basis of one syntype collected from Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and two newly obtained specimens, also from Hakone. DIFFERENTIATION OF SOME SIMILAR SPECIES OF THE SUBFAMILY TROCHETINAE (HIRUDINIDA: ERPOBDELLIDAE)
Some species of the subfamily Trochetinae Perrier, 1897 are very similar in the external morphology. In this paper we showed that characteristics of the reproductive system can be used as unmistakable features for the determination of the similar species.

We present a genome assembly from an individual Erpobdella octoculata (leeches; Annelida; Clitellata; Hirudinida; Erpobdellidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 386.12 megabases. Most of the assembly (98.81%) is scaffolded into 10 chromosomal pseudomolecules.
