Understanding the clinical management of co‐occurring sleep‐related bruxism and obstructive sleep apnea in adults: A narrative and critical review

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, Volume 34, Issue S1, Page 46-61, April 2025.
Abstract Sleep‐related bruxism (SRB) is a motor oral behavior characterized by tooth grinding and jaw clenching activity, reported by 8%–12% of the adult general population and 3% of older individuals. The frequency of one of its biomarkers, rhythmic masticatory muscle activity (RMMA), remains elevated across ages.

MRI‐based surrogates of brain clearance in narcolepsy type 1

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
Summary Brain clearance involves the drainage of waste molecules from the brain, a process that is suggested to be amplified during sleep. Recently proposed MRI‐based methods attempt to approximate human brain clearance with surrogate measures. The current study aimed to explore whether two brain clearance surrogates are altered in narcolepsy.

Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes of Patients With Rome IV Functional Dyspepsia Who Consume Opioids: A Real‐World Study

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Approximately one in three patients with Rome IV functional dyspepsia (FD) consume opioids and this is associated with older age, depression/anxiety, and chronic pain. Opioid cessation alongside a neuromodulator improved symptoms in 29% of cases, with a number needed to treat of 5.7, suggesting that this treatment strategy may be beneficial in FD ...
