Effects of Inhaled Brevetoxins in Allergic Airways: Toxin–Allergen Interactions and Pharmacologic Intervention [PDF]
During a Florida red tide, brevetoxins produced by the dinoflagellate Karenia brevis become aerosolized and cause airway symptoms in humans, especially in those with pre-existing airway disease (e.g., asthma).

Structure of the human histamine H1 receptor complex with doxepin [PDF]
The biogenic amine histamine is an important pharmacological mediator involved in pathophysiological processes such as allergies and inflammations. Histamine H(1) receptor (H(1)R) antagonists are very effective drugs alleviating the symptoms of allergic reactions.

Early Origins of Asthma and Allergies: Clues From Studies in China
The environment we live in harbours both risk and protective factors for asthma and allergies. This is particularly relevant in China, where unique environmental and cultural factors shape disease development. The interplay between these environmental factors, airway immunity, and gut microbiome shapes the susceptibility to asthma and allergies ...

Effect of histamine on the electric activities of cerebellar Purkinje cell [PDF]
The effect of histamine (HA) on the electric activities of Purkinje cell (PC) is studied on the cerebellum slice. We find that: (1) HA's main effect on PC is excitative (72.9%); there are also a small amount of PC showing inhibitive (10.2%) or no (16.9%) response to HA.

The Effects of Histamine H3 Receptors on Contractile Responses on Rat Gastric Fundus [PDF]
The aim of this study is to determine the effects of histamine receptors on the gastrointestinal system smooth muscle contractions and the role of histamine H3 receptors on these effects.

Polymorphisms of High-Affinity IgE Receptor and Histamine-Related Genes in Patients with ASA-Induced Urticaria/Angioedema [PDF]
The pathogenic mechanism of ASA-induced urticaria/angioedema (AIU) is still poorly understood, but it has been known that histamine releasing by cutaneous mast cell activation is considered to be an important role. Considering the importance of histamine

Prospects of using Antagonist Histamine H2-Receptor (Cimetidinum) as Adjuvant for Melanoma Biotherapy Treatment [PDF]
Improvement of anti-tumor biotherapy effectiveness by modification of immune response with histamine H2 receptor Cimetidinum (CM) was studied using the experimental murine model of B16 F10 melanoma in vivo. It is shown that skin melanoma biotherapy by antitumor whole-cell GM-CSF-producing vaccine with the addition of CM (in dose of 25 mg/kg, daily for ...
