Polymerase Synthesis of Hypermodified DNA Displaying a Combination of Thiol, Hydroxyl, Carboxylate, and Imidazole Functional Groups in the Major Groove

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A series of 2’‐deoxyribonucleoside 5’‐O‐triphosphates bearing functional groups of amino acid side chains in enzyme active sites (OH, SH, COOH, and imidazole) were synthesized and used for enzymatic synthesis of hypermodified DNA displaying these substituents in the major groove mimicking peptides or proteins. Abstract We designed and synthesized a set

Lysophosphatidic Acid (LPA) Induces Plasma Exudation and Histamine Release in Mice via LPA Receptors

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2006
.: Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), the simplest of the water-soluble phospholipids, can evoke various biological responses. The present study examined the activity of LPA to induce plasma exudation and histamine release in mice.

Histamine stimulates human microglia to alter cellular prion protein expression via the HRH2 histamine receptor

open access: yesScientific Reports
Although the cellular prion protein (PrPC) has been evolutionarily conserved, the role of this protein remains elusive. Recent evidence indicates that PrPC may be involved in neuroinflammation and the immune response in the brain, and its expression may ...

Hybrid Molecules as Efficient Drugs against Multidrug‐Resistant Malaria Parasites

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Among hybrid molecules currently developed as antimalarial drug candidates, emoquine‐1 exhibits high activity against all the multidrug‐resistant Plasmodium strains tested up to now, including artemisinin‐resistant quiescent parasites, critical parameters for promising antimalarial drugs. It is also curative in mouse malaria.

Granuloma pouch and skin histamine of the rat [PDF]

open access: yes, 1958
Using the granuloma pouch technique of SELYE, effect of modification in local histamine on the inflammatory tissue reactions was examined in rats. The increase in the weight of pouch wall and histological inflammatory changes were distinctly inhibited in

Role of Substance P on Histamine H3 Antagonist-Induced Scratching Behavior in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2006
.: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the involvement of chemical mediators, other than histamine, in the scratching behavior induced by H3 antagonists.

IgE-mediated histamine release from nasal mucosa is inhibited by SLPI (secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor) to the level of spontaneous release

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 1998
The secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor (SLPI) is a low-molecular-weight inhibitor of proteases, such as elastase and cathepsin G which are released from leukocytes during phagocytosis. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not SLPI is

Release angle for attaining maximum distance in the soccer throw-in [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
We investigated the release angle that maximises the distance attained in a long soccer throw-in. One male soccer player performed maximum-effort throws using release angles of between 10 and 60 degrees, and the throws were analysed using 2-D video.

Lags in the Release, Adoption, and Propagation of npm Vulnerability Fixes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Security vulnerability in third-party dependencies is a growing concern not only for developers of the affected software, but for the risks it poses to an entire software ecosystem, e.g., Heartbleed vulnerability. Recent studies show that developers are slow to respond to the threat of vulnerability, sometimes taking four to eleven months to act.

Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Bicyclic Pyrazolines with Promising Antimicrobial Activities

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Continuous flow technology is exploited for the generation of bicyclic pyrazolines via photo‐click reactions. These heterocyclic species contain a valuable 3D scaffold along with a polar succinimide moiety. Subsequent antimicrobial testing reveals that halogenated moieties such as chlorine atoms and trifluoromethoxy groups enhance the potency of these ...
