Histamine-releasing factors

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Immunology, 1996
There is increasing evidence that human basophils accumulate at sites of chronic inflammation, and, in particular, in allergic asthma. Investigators have, therefore, become very interested in identifying proteins that activate these cells. Recently, the gene encoding a candidate for this function, a novel molecule, the IgE-dependent histamine-releasing

MORPHINE AND HISTAMINE RELEASE

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1958
Abstract A wide range of drugs exert analeptic action in dogs treated with morphine; cyclizine, diphenhydramine, chlorcyclizine, Avil, tripelennamine and succinic acid. Benactyzine and Pacatal are without effect. Histamine and an antihistaminase (isoniazid) exert some alerting action in a morphine-treated dog.

Tick Histamine Release Factor Is Critical for Ixodes scapularis Engorgement and Transmission of the Lyme Disease Agent

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2010
Ticks are distributed worldwide and affect human and animal health by transmitting diverse infectious agents. Effective vaccines against most tick-borne pathogens are not currently available.

Anaphylaxis with Schistosoma mansoni extracts in normal and infected mice

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo, 1985
Methods generally utilized for studies on anaphylaxis to protein antigens such as determination of histamine release to the blood, hemoconcentration, histamine release from peritoneal mast cells and passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) were used to ...

Changes in IgE- and Antigen-dependent histamine-release in peripheral blood of Schistosoma mansoni-infected Ugandan fishermen after treatment with praziquantel

open access: yesBMC Immunology, 2004
Background Parasite-specific IgE levels correlate with human resistance to reinfection with Schistosoma spp. after chemotherapy. Although the role of eosinophils in schistosomiasis has been the focus of a great deal of important research, the involvement

Prostaglandin D2 Inhibits IgE-Mediated Scratching by Suppressing Histamine Release From Mast Cells

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2005
Effects of prostaglandin (PG) D2, PGE2, and PGI2 on itch-associated scratching responses of mice and histamine release from the rat basophilic leukemia cell line RBL-2H3 were examined.

A Cold Stress‐Activated Endocrine Sentinel Chemical Hormone Promotes Insect Survival via Mitochondrial Adaptations Through the Adipokinetic Hormone Receptor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Seasonal cold adaptation is vital for insect survival, yet the molecular mechanisms linking diapause to mitochondrial resilience remain largely unresolved. We identify ascaroside C9 (asc‐C9) as a key endocrine signal that enhances diapause survival during cold stress by activating the AKHR–PGC1α–UCP4 axis, thereby driving cold‐induced lipolysis and ...

The effect of cyclic nucleotide analog drugs on the mediators release from basophils

open access: yesAdvanced Biomedical Research, 2015
Background: The cyclic nucleotides, cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), are intracellular second messengers that play an important role in modulating inflammatory cells involved in allergic diseases.

Human Atlas of Tooth Decay Progression: Identification of Cellular Mechanisms Driving the Switch from Dental Pulp Repair Toward Irreversible Pulpitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tooth decay progression transforms the dental pulp response from repair to fibrosis. At early stages, stromal cells reprogram to repair the extra cellular matrix (ECM), blood vessels, and nerves, remodel and grow, keeping repair possible. In advanced decay, hypoxia, and vessel regression, in complement with an immune switch, fuel nerve degeneration and
