Ideas in the History of Nano/Miniaturization and (Quantum) Simulators: Feynman, Education and Research Reorientation in Translational Science [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of The 19th International Electronic Conference on Synthetic Organic Chemistry, 2015
Cultural history of nanominiaturization, computing, quantum computing and simulating is necessary to comprehend human character and place it in the whole of living beings. Ideas in the history of physics by Feynman, etc. are valued by the questions that generate.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

RUNNING DETAILS ON THE TWO MOVEMENTS IN THE INTELLECTUAL HISTORY OF SCIENCE AND IDEAS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Baltic Science Education, 2016
A long tradition concerning the causes of the planetary movements existed as to the movements on the earth: the so called problem de motu locali. Starting from late middle Ages many criticisms were carried out against the Aristotelian doctrine of natural and violent motions.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
