A Versatile High‐Throughput Single‐Cell Screening Platform for Profiling Antigen‐Specific Long‐Lived B Cells in Blood and Bone Marrow

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The MoSMAR‐chip platform provides a high‐throughput and cost‐effective tool for identifying and characterizing antigen‐specific antibody‐secreting cells (ASCs) and memory B cells (MBCs) at the single‐cell level. The ASCs from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) vaccine‐immunized mice were successfully analyzed, revealing diverse neutralizing antibodies

STI in times of PrEP: high prevalence of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and mycoplasma at different anatomic sites in men who have sex with men in Germany

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2020
Background Men who have sex with men (MSM) are disproportionally affected by sexually transmitted infections (STI). STI are often extragenital and asymptomatic. Both can delay diagnosis and treatment. Approval of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) might

Mathematical modelling of the first HIV/ZIKV co-infection cases in Colombia and Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This paper presents a mathematical model to investigate co-infection with HIV/AIDS and zika virus (ZIKV) in Colombia and Brazil, where the first cases were reported in 2015-2016. The model considers the sexual transmission dynamics of both viruses and vector-host interactions.

Engineered Tissue Models to Decode Host–Microbiota Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Host–Microbiota interactions in the human body. Created in BioRender. Ghezzi, C. (2025) https://BioRender.com/ihivskg. Abstract A mutualistic co‐evolution exists between the host and its associated microbiota in the human body. Bacteria establish ecological niches in various tissues of the body, locally influencing their physiology and functions, but ...

Increasing integrated testing in community settings through interventions for change, including the Spring European Testing Week

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2021
Background Maximising access to testing by targeting more than one infection is effective in identifying new infections in settings or populations. Within the EU funded Joint Action INTEGRATE, this paper examined the feasibility and impact of expanding ...

Immune compromise in HIV-1/HTLV-1 coinfection with paradoxical resolution of CD4 lymphocytosis during antiretroviral therapy: a case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Human immunodeficiency virus type-1 (HIV-1) and human T lymphotropic virus type-1 (HTLV-1) infections have complex effects on adaptive immunity, with specific tropism for, but contrasting effects on, CD4 T lymphocytes: depletion with HIV-1, proliferation

Identification of CD38high Monocyte as a Candidate Diagnostic Biomarker and Therapeutic Target for Sepsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers that CD38high monocytes discriminate sepsis and sterile inflammation and are associated with 28‐day mortality in bacterial sepsis. Targeting CD38 therapy reduces inflammatory response in monocytes and in sepsis mice model. Mechanistically, CD38‐HIF‐1α/glycolysis/MGO loop exacerbates sepsis‐induced immune dysregulation.
