Evaluation of Light Electric Flying-Wing Unmanned Aerial System Energy Consumption During Holding Maneuver

open access: yesEnergies
This study evaluates the energy consumption of a light electric flying-wing unmanned aerial system (UAS) during low-altitude holding maneuvers. Two flight patterns were investigated: circular holding at a specified altitude and a figure-eight trajectory.

Analysis of Ion Behavior Affecting Voltage Holding Property of Liquid Crystal Displays

open access: yes, 2011
A mechanism for the decay of charged voltage, which leads to the lowering of the voltage holding ratio of liquid crystal displays (LCDs), was proposed using a model for the behavior of ions in an LC layer.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Ohmic processing of Arenga pinnata sap: determining the interaction effects of storage time, voltage gradient, and natural preservatives

open access: yesApplied Food Research
Arenga pinnata sap is prone to quality deterioration during ambient holding, which may affect thermal processing performance. This study examined how sap without preservative and with natural preservatives (Curcuma longa rhizome and Pterospermum sp. root)

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
