Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Phase Inversion in a Batch Liquid – Liquid Stirred System [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2008
"> Phase inversion phenomenon occurs in many industrial processes including liquidliquid dispersions. Some parameters such as energy input or the presence of mineral compounds in the system affect this phenomenon. The aim of this research is to study the

Study on Holdup Measurement of Uranium in Valve by γ-ray Spectrometry

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
During the production and operation of some bulk handling facilities, nuclear material deposits remaining after cleaning in and about process equipment, interconnecting piping, filters and adjacent work area or equipment, which is called holdup. In order

The Effect of Surfactants on Characteristics of Hydrodynamic and Mass Transfer Coefficient in Gas-Liquid Dispersion Column [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2007
This work studis the effect of liquid properties (water, solution 0.2-1.5 wt% for each of i-propanol, and n-butanol), temperature (26-55 oC) andsuperficial air velocity (1-15cm/s) on the gas holdup and mass transfercoefficient in air-liquid dispersion ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

A Model For The Residence Time Distribution and Holdup Measurement in a Two Impinging Streams Cyclone Reactor/Contactor in Solid-Liquid Systems [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2006
In this paper a two impinging streams cyclone contacting system suitable for handling of solid-liquid systems has been studied. Certain pertinent parameters such as: solid holdup, mean residence time and Residence Time Distribution (RTD) of solid ...

Prediction of Dispersed Phase Holdup in the Kühni Extraction Column Using a New Experimental Correlation and Artificial Neural Network [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Oil & Gas Science and Technology, 2019
In this work, the dispersed phase holdup in a Kühni extraction column is predicted using intelligent methods and a new empirical correlation. Intelligent techniques, including multilayer perceptron and radial basis functions network are used in the ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
