Patterns of mid-Holocene climate change: evidence from the peat archive
With growing concerns over future climate change, the need to understand past climate variability has become an important topic of research. In this thesis, a gap in knowledge of the transition to modern climatic conditions during the mid-Holocene is ...

Decadal-centennial scale monsoon variations in the Arabian Sea during the Early Holocene [PDF]
An essential prerequisite for the prediction of future climate change due to anthropogenic input is an understanding of the natural processes that control Earth's climate on timescales comparable to human-lifespan. The Early Holocene period was chosen to

Impact of Holocene climate change on silicon cycling in Lake 850, Northern Sweden
Diatom-rich sediment in a small subarctic lake (Lake 850) was investigated in a 9400 cal. yr BP sediment record in order to explore the impact of Holocene climate evolution on silicon cycling. Diatom stable silicon isotopes (δ30SiBSi) and biogenic silica

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Survey of Climatic Changes of Namak Lake Basin in the Late Quaternary [PDF]
Two important characteristics, alternate climatic fluctuations and human being appearance, distinguish Quaternary from other geology periods. These climatic changes have shown increase and decrease of glacialical scope in high latitudes, but there are ...

The response of the Greenland Ice Sheet to future climate change is relatively unconstrained. Determining the extents and rates of ice-margin fluctuations during the Holocene provides a longer-term perspective on ice-sheet changes and offers an analogue ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A high resolution palynological study of the Holocene vegetational development of central Holderness, eastern Yorkshire, with particular emphasis on the detection of prehistoric human activity. [PDF]
Compared to upland areas and Scotland, the Holocene vegetational history of lowland England is poorly known. This is particularly the case for the region of Holdemess, eastern Yorkshire, where only a low number of poor temporal resolution pollen diagrams
