Safety and Metabolic Effects of Withania somnifera Seed Extract and Powder in Rats: Insights From DPP‐4 Molecular Docking

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Withania somnifera seed extract and powder improved metabolic parameters in rats, particularly at higher extract doses, without evident hepatic, renal, hematological, or histopathological toxicity. Molecular docking further predicted strong DPP‐4 inhibitory potential of withanone, supporting the antidiabetic potential of W. somnifera seeds.

Embryonic Development in Two High‐Elevation Oviparous Lizard Species: Contrasting Strategies for Coping With Cold Climates

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding how species respond to local climates is crucial for predicting their responses to climate change. The cold climate of high elevations constitutes a physiological challenge for reptiles, especially during the embryonic stages of oviparous species, because embryos have limited ability to thermoregulate behaviorally. To examine how

కేజు పర్యావేక్షణ (Cage Monitoring) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Monitoring is an integral part of any type of mariculture activity. A well conceived and designed monitoring programme is needed to promote good growth of fishes and to obtained optimal production in sustainable manner from cages.

Body Size and Habitat Association as Determinants for Water Balance, Temperature Relations, and Behavioral Performance in Leptodactylid Frogs

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The association between species' habitat preferences (e.g., aquatic, terrestrial, arboreal) and traits related to body temperature regulation and water balance has been relatively well studied in anurans. However, whether such associations hold for species occupying the same general habitat while differing in other relevant functional ...

Continuous locomotor activity monitoring to assess animal welfare following intracranial surgery in mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience
Locomotor activity can serve as a readout to identify discomfort and pain. Therefore, monitoring locomotor activity following interventions that induce potential discomfort may serve as a reliable method for evaluating animal health, complementing ...

Liberation Through Narration: A Novel Humanistic Framework to Address Body Dissatisfaction

open access: yesThe Journal of Humanistic Counseling, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Though body dissatisfaction is nuanced and pervasive, the magnitude of body dissatisfaction is undercut by essentialist conceptualizations of the body and medicalized metrics of wellness tied to disordered eating. Hence, there is a need for a contextualized and sustaining framework to address and promote healing from body dissatisfaction ...

Cutting through the noise: What can habitat selection modeling teach us about caribou‐fire space use dynamics?

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
We synthesize the current knowledge regarding caribou habitat selection in relation to wildfires. Caribou responses to recent burns were generally weak and highly variable across subspecies or ecotypes, suggesting that post‐fire habitat selection is likely context‐dependent and the need for regionally adapted habitat management strategies.
