Climate‐Modulated Particle Toxicity: Acute Exposure to an Environmentally Informed Microplastic Mixture Induces Sex‐Dependent Systemic Reorganization in Swiss Mice

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microplastic (MP) pollution is widely recognized as an emerging environmental threat. Yet, most studies still rely on controlled experimental conditions that poorly reflect environmental complexity, potentially underestimating risks under realistic scenarios, particularly during short‐term exposures. Here, we tested whether acute oral exposure

Monitoring rodents' life history by body temperature and activity

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
European hamster populations are rapidly declining all over their distribution area. One of the suggested reasons is a strong and ongoing decrease in the reproductive output of about 77% since the nineteen twenties. The cause of this decline is, however, unknown.

Efficacy of raccoon removal in urban and rural sites in northern Illinois

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, EarlyView.
We placed 109 camera traps (n = 204 unique camera trap placements) at 6 study sites (5 treatment and 1 control) to monitor raccoon response to removal. Our results indicated that implementing biannual, multiple, or extended trapping programs could maintain reduced raccoon abundance and occupancy over longer durations where protection of prey species is

Fecal Glucocorticoid and Androgen Metabolites in Eastern Grey Kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) Following Environmental Relocation

open access: yesZoo Biology, EarlyView.
Fecal glucocorticoid (GCM) and androgen metabolite (AM) concentrations were monitored for 3 months following the relocation of three eastern gray kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) between zoological facilities. Both metabolites showed high concentrations during the early postrelocation period, followed by a rapid decline and stabilization, suggesting ...

Burned habitats facilitate predation and lead to long‐term reductions in prey success

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
By evaluating the effects of burned habitats on the habitat selection and movement responses of cougars and mule deer, cougar kill sites, and mule deer reproduction, the authors find that increasingly large, severe burns are diminishing herbivore reproductive success, potentially due to advantages for predators created by burned landscapes.

Power distance orientation and the attitudinal mechanisms linking servant leadership to innovative work behaviour among Vietnamese public servants

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Public Administration, EarlyView.
Abstract The focus on fostering innovative work behaviour among public servants in Vietnam reflects a strategic effort to enhance public service delivery and citizen satisfaction. However, empirical insights into how to effectively motivate such behaviours remain scarce.

Uncovering Biogas Outcomes: Tales of Hubris, Hope, and Failure From Southern Malawi

open access: yesNatural Resources Forum, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The purpose of this article is to speak directly to biogas failure. Over the past two decades, immense amounts of money have been spent by African governments, private individuals, and most conspicuously, international aid agencies and donors, on countless biogas projects in every country on the continent.
