On Homogeneous Ideals [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Glasgow Mathematical Association, 1955
The modern algebraic treatment of geometry in projective spaces focuses attention on the properties of homogeneous ideals in polynomial and power-series rings. This inevitably raises questions concerning how far ordinary ideal theory needs to be modified if only homogeneous ideals are to be regarded as significant.

The homogeneity conjecture [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1979
We show that, for any function f in which Kleene's O is computable, the ordering of Turning degrees (i.e., degrees of difficulty of computation of functions) is not isomorphic to the ordering of degrees of functions from which f is computable. This refutes a well-known

Police overestimation of criminal career homogeneity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Police presumptions about criminal career trajectories have been little studied. The exploratory study reported here involved 42 police staff of varying rank and experience.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Variabilidade da precipitação no Sertão do São Francisco, estado de Alagoas Precipitation variability in the 'Sertão' of San Francisco in the State of Alagoas

Certified reference material for coal in accordance with the PN-EN ISO 17034:2017-03 standard and ISO GUIDE 35:2017

open access: yesEnvironmental & Socio-economic Studies, 2023
Due to an absence of domestic certified reference materials for coal on the Polish market, an attempt was made to manufacture a new and innovative product tailored to its needs.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Some more notions of homomorphism-homogeneity

open access: yes, 2014
We extend the notion of 'homomorphism-homogeneity' to a wider class of kinds of maps than previously studied, and we investigate the relations between the resulting notions of homomorphism-homogeneity, giving several examples.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Reconstructions of Serbian National Identity in the Post-Yugoslav Era: A Thematic Survey

open access: yesEtnoantropološki Problemi, 2018
This paper surveys some of the challenges facing Serbia in reconstructing elements of its national identity following the break-up of Yugoslavia in the 1990s. Unlike most of the other republics that comprised the federation, Serbia fought to maintain the
